Is AVAULT the only place you d/l it from? I was trying to d/l the demo
earlier today from there and poof it just quit d/l. 1st time that have
every happened I though it might have actually finished but I didn't
even get half of it. D/L 10 megs at 1.1k a second isn't much fun.

The game is being pushed back to Late April, at earliest.  The reason
why the demo states it's shipping in 1st Q'97 is because magazines have
a lead time of 3 months, and the demo was done a month before that. It's
just that tricky to predict exact ship dates. Bear in mind that the demo
that is now online is taken (without permission, mind you) from the
magazine demos.  A thoroughly updated version of the demo will become
available online soon.  You can look forward to faster frame rate,
better control and handling, smarter AI, better sounds, better layout
and features for the paintshop, several redesigned cars, and you get the
picture.

Actually, the XCar website is almost ready to go up.  The main reason
why there is no info up yet at the XCar website because it's being
designed more than just a "hype"site.  It's quite content filled, and
because much of the content is designed for sim fans, and since the
development team knows the stuff in and out, and they are providing
everything, it's full blown process.  We hope you will be pleased with
our attempt to provide something that is worth checking out.

But thanks for the appreciation of the game and the concern of its
marketing.  It's not often you hear that someone complains that you
aren't getting enough hype for something! :)  But planning a marketing
strategy is more than just throwing up information.  It's timing.  And
since XCar is launching at around Late April, well, I guess the ball
starts rolling right here!

First, I LOVE the X-Car demo. I would highly recommend it to
simmers.....but....
It is incredible to me that for (at least) 2 months, the Bethesda Software
X-CAR website (WWW.XCAR.COM) has had NOTHING on it except for an X-Car logo
and a message to check back in a few days. What makes it VERY funny is that
they have advertised the site for (at least) TWO MONTHS in PC Gamer and
other mags. Now, the X-Car demo is released on a SLOW site and the
WWW.BETHSOFT.COM webpage immediately goes down and has been non-accessible
since the demo was released. My browser says that the URL doesn't exist.
The WWW.XCAR.COM site STILL has nothing but the logo on it.

Now, there is NO Bethesda info concerning X-Car on the ENTIRE net. Very
interesting for a product which claims in its 3 day old demo to be shipping
in the 1Q97. Thats 10 days from now.

If I ran this "company", I would (immediately) FIRE the marketing director
and apologize to the talented programmers who have developed this KILLER
sim. There is simply NO excuse for this.

If X-Car fails, it will be for only ONE reason. Marketing.

What a shame.
