Is anyone using this processor? If so how does the game run? Would
upgrading my dx2-66 to this processor be a good idea? Or should I go to
a dx4-100? Thanks in advance,

Hi!!

I'm using the pentium overdrive at 83mhz it works quite ok in vga with some
details off.I get a framerate of 16 in vga but Monaco is a nightmare,So i
think to buy a fast pentium is the best thing:-)

I have an old NEC 486 33mhz with 8 meg of ram ,no extra cache,built-in
cirrus 1
meg video chip.I couldn't runNascar in hi-res mode without it being so
choppy
and almost all of the graphics turned off.I bought the Pentium 83 overdrive
from
Insight about six months ago.I now only lose the grass and asphault
textures.I
can also run a full field of cars. The chip doubled my performance in Norton
WIN 95
benchmark.Personally,I'd wait to see the system requirements for Nascar
Racing 2.
Already having a 66,from what I read,you won't gain that much
From the screen shots,(imagine... dealing with the sun in your eyes),hard
to say what
you''ll need.My situation was unique,cause I couldn't take out my
processor(soldered in)
my only choice was an overdrive chip.It wasn't cheap, but at the time it was
my best alternative.
Hang in there,Intel has a price drop coming in August.

I am running Gp2 on a Pentium Overdrive and it's better than expected.

Only if you have good components in an already fast machine that
you don't want to discard easily. Had I not had a good VLB-gfx-card
and Mainboard I probably would have opted for an altogether
new system.

A Dx4 is much cheaper but I would think that the PODP is faster.
( Note however, that the PODP may not run in every system.
The shopkeeper almost discouraged me from buying it. :)

Anyway, in my system the CPU runs at 90 instead of 82.5 Mhz
and Gp2 runs fine at 21.3 fps in SVGA with no textures and
plotting only track, curbs, verges and smoke in the mirrors.
Usually I can run with medium track detail which I turn down
in a race since drawing the other cars takes up a lot of processor time.
( Gfx-board is a Hercules Dynamite Pro 2 MB Dram ( ET4000/w32i chip ) BTW )
