Pulling off in GP2

I've finally qualified in Pole. Maybe 2nd, sometimes third. As the lights
go green, I fall back 5 places, due to a crappy pull off. 1st skids, 2nd
seems to rev low, and by the times the wheels are gripping the ground, I'm
8th! Is there any advice on pulling off?

Thanks!

I use the keyboard to control my game.
I have pretty good starts.

All I do is put the car into first gear and leave my finger on the a
key i.e. full acceleration and use the space bar key i.e. clutch or
shifter to control the revs. i.e. press the clutch down and depress for
about 5 secs until the revs drop to a very low level and then repeat,
try and get it right when the green light is about to come on.

Make sure your revs are very low and you will obtain a fine start.

Sometimes if they are too low you should press the clutch in again for
just a fraction of a second to bring the revs up a little and take off
again.

Thatshould help somewhat

Regards

I wait 'til green, put the pedal about halfway down, the tires spin a
bit, but quickly hook up. I continue to depress the pedal slowly, by the
time I'm in second, I'm definitely foot to the floor. Sometimes someone
like Alesi will get a jump on me, but often I'm the very fastest off the
line and I sometimes pick up two or three places at the start.

I found that using the rev indicators on the dash helps.  Hold the
clutch in and rev the engine until just the first light is lit and
then drop down a couple of notes listening to the engine.  As soon as
the light goes green simply release the clutch.  You may still have to
balance the throttle a little but this usually results in a good start
with minimum wheel spin (for me anyway!!).

Cheers .... Pete

If you set first gear to a higher ratio via the setup screen, it should
prevent wheelspin at low speeds.
You should DEFINITELY do this if you use a digital control device eg:-
keyboard, its not so important with analogue as you can "feather" the
throttle.

My first gear is NEVER less then 30, (I use a keyboard).

Well at least one driver with a honest bit of help .....yes it has
also been the same with me ....what  I do that also helps to get that
*** down is to hit 2nd gear a little early and you can leave the
others to do the smoke bit
happy racing

Yeah, this is hard to get right....(ask Damon Hill)  Trick is, not to
have wheel spin!  I find a slightly higher first gear, 'blip' the
throttle in a rythmic fasion while the red start light is on, when it
hits the green drop the clutch, but control the revs until you are
confident that the wheels are gripping without wheelspin, I normally
gain several places from the grid this way ;-)

Best of luck

Try this.

Before the lights turn to green keep the cars revs very low in first,
just pressing the button lightly so the revs go up a little bit and then
let it go....keep doing this...in first...press button lightly...revs up
a bit...back down again...up a bit...down again (best way of describing
it).  Then when the lights go green and the car starts moving forward
you'll see the revs go mad.  If it seems early change to second when the
revs hit the third light and the car should maintain a good pull off.
Now you've got it going try to pull to the middle of the circuit so no
one can get buy and prey to god you can pass the guys in front.  If
you've got a good start you should be able to take them at the first
corner.

If that doesn't work I don't know what does.

Hey guys, I'm sorry. There is no way you can fix this bug in this so
called "simulator". Let's ask Mr. Crammond that next time he make a
game more close to reality. Indeed, I think nobody here is used to see
the pole in the real Formula 1 having to apply so many wrong ways of
driving  just to avoid his car from always getting from pole to the
5th, 8th, and so on.

Also, in the real Formula 1 you won't see cars stopping at the next
first corner to wait for you (maybe to compensate that injustice),
feeling sorry that you didn't deserve the 8th, always, always, always.

I'm "coming" in a bit late on this thread (if you'll pardon the pun),
but in the UK "pulling off" means something completely different! I
just had to read this to find why somebody was getting THAT e***d
playing GP2!!

Cheers!

I thought about trying this (to enhance gameplay)
but figured that I wouldn't be able to change gears.

I run a way high 1st gear (39-42) which reduces wheel spin and
makes the car easier to handle around the rest of the circuit.
