What is SASCAR ?

by Rodney Arnd » Tue, 20 Apr 1999 04:00:00

I thought I'd let everyone know what SASCAR is all about & how & what will
be expected of you as a SASCAR member. After you read this note you may
decide that this league is NOT for you. THIS LEAGUE IS NOT FOR EVERYONE.

WHO AM I ? To read a little bit about myself go here:
http://www.racesimcentral.net/~racinrod/whoami.htm

WHAT DOES SASCAR STAND FOR ? Sim Association for Stock Car Auto Racers.

WHAT IS SASCAR ? SASCAR is an IROC on-line racing league that runs on

run in SASCAR you must come recommended from a fellow driver.

WHAT IS SASCAR BGN ? SASCAR BGN is an IROC on-line racing league that runs

HOW WILL SASCAR BGN BE RUN ? SASCAR BGN will be run exactly the same way as
SASCAR with the only exception being the day & distances run. In other words
the rules for SASCAR are the same as the rules for SASCAR BGN. Go here &
click on the links to read about SASCAR & how things are done:
http://www.racesimcentral.net/~racinrod/sascar.htm
Eventually there will be a dedicated BGN site similar to that above.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO JOIN SASCAR BGN? SASCAR BGN is open to anybody & anyone
that wishes to join to matter what there skill or lpi level may be. Once the
SASCAR BGN league has 24 drivers any other drivers that wish to join will be
placed on a list & given priority (1st come 1st serve) to join as current
drivers quit, leave or get thrown out. Yes I said THROWN OUT. (I'll explain
this further in detail below)  I don't care how good or bad a driver you may
be or how good or bad a reputation you may have, anybody is eligible to join
SASCAR BGN. It's doesn't necessarily mean that you will remain a member if
you do not hold up to the notes mention below.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME AS A SASCAR BGN DRIVER ? As easy as it is to join
SASCAR BGN it's just as easy to get THROWN OUT of SASCAR BGN. Every drivers
goal in this league should be to someday make it to SASCAR's Wednesday night
league to run with some of the BEST IROC racers on TEN. The only way to make
it to this league is to come recommended from a fellow driver. Since I will
be racing in SASCAR BGN I will be able to monitor drivers on how they act &
control themselves on the track to see if anybody is qualified to run with
the so called "Big Boys" <g>. I save all replays & review them after each
race. SASCAR isn't about who is the fastest but it's about who is the
SAFEST, CLEANEST, PATIENT & MOST courteous DRIVER on the track.

I don't care if you win half the races you enter. If you cause wrecks, ***
moan & groan about other drivers in the other half of the races you enter
you will have no chance at ever running in the Wednesday night league. In
fact chances are good you'll even be thrown out of SASCAR BGN. Speed is not
important in SASCAR or SASCAR BGN. We feel speed will come with time. It's
your willingness to race CLEAN, PATIENT, & showing your ability to give &
take at the right times throughout a race that will give you your best
opportunity to move up.

HOW ARE THE DRIVERS IN SASCAR'S WEDNESDAY LEAGUE ? The drivers in SASCAR are
some of the BEST & CLEANEST drivers you'll come across on TEN. Plenty of
give & take & lots of good clean hard racing with NO FLAMING. If drivers do
not hold up to these standards they are removed from the league. You notice
I didn't mention anything about FAST. Ok, yes there are fast drivers but,
this is the least important thing when judging a SASCAR driver. I'm a good
example of this. I'm defending SASCAR champion but not because I'm fast but,
because I stay out of trouble & finish races. As a matter of fact out of 24
drivers I'd say I'm right in the middle of the group when it comes to speed.
I haven't WON a SASCAR race in two years. The drivers in SASCAR take there
racing a lot more seriously than most. You'll find a lot of the drivers in
SASCAR also have some of the highest LPI's

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO IN ORDER TO IMPRESS IN AN EFFORT TO MOVE UP ?
1) Patience, patience, patience. I can't stress it enough.
2) Be safe.
3) Clean.
4) willingness to give & take.
5) making as many races as possible.
6) friendliness.
7) Courteous.
8) No Flaming ***ing moaning or groaning about other drivers. (If everyone
follows 1 thru 7 # 8 will never apply)
9) Understanding the limits of TEN & on-line racing. (warps, Latency,
Bandwith, realizing accidents do & will occur due to an imperfect system)
10) Realize that drivers in SASCAR BGN come in many different skill levels.

99) ...
100)....
101) Speed <g>

HOW CAN I GET THROWN OUT OF THE LEAGUE ?
1) FLAMING & SHOUTING AT OTHER DRIVERS.
2) Overaggressive driving.
3) not following the rules.
4) Not showing up for races.

One of SASCAR's greatest success's is that this league is actually run by
you. Whatever majority wants in this league majority will get. I'm simply
here to administrate things. Any ideas suggestions or comments or how to
improve the league will be more than welcome. All the above mentioned notes
are how majority currently feels things should be run from past experiences.
