I'll assume this is N2 (due to your last Tracks question).

1. Move forward until the pit sign is showing only the bottom half
    in your windscreen.

2. Step on the brake and hold it, or they will not work on your car.

3. Once they start working, you can press on the gas to get moving
    quickly once they are done.

(Where is that FAQ file then you need it? :)
