while racing? If I take my hands off the wheel I'm all over.
Many of the players appeared to be typing through most of the race. Do they
just have standard macros or is it really possible to type that much during
the race?

It is either Tyler who is a complete idiot,
or they have someone typing shit on the keyboard
while they drive....stick to drving not typing....
If you get into a race online and all you see are stupid comments flashing up all the
time, get out quick and find a proper race with ***S. Basically, what you have done is
joined the pre-school wreckers league. Some other indications are.....Constant restarts
when the host doesn't get his on way. Divots driving along the apron waiting for someone
to take out. Bozo's with car skins that only they can see and think they are the dog's
bollocks. etc..
Unfortunately, the ratio of people who are able to do that vs. the ones who
are really dangerous when doing that is like 1:1000 ;-)

I suspect you're referring to a NASCAR game, though you didn't say so,
in which case I know very little about it. But in GPL, I have the
following setup on my MSFF wheel (fixed font on, please). Rear paddles
in square brackets:
Sorry Change Down
[F10] Thanks Clutch [Change Up]
Look Left Look Right
Other than "Sorry" and "Thanks", together with "GLA" on the grid, I
don't type much in the race, except for the odd "LOL" or ":)". I used
to do it a fair bit more, but as I've got faster there's been less time
for that (or could that be vice versa?).
(The slightly odd gearchange buttons are because my previous MSFF's
left-side buttons stopped working, and it was some weeks before I could
afford a new one. I got so used to right-hand-only shifting that I've
stuck with it.)

It's been up to usual Microsoft standards. (Not often I get to say
that!) Had the current (USB) one since Christmas 2000, and it's still
going strong after 15 months of very hard use (has to be taken on & off
at least twice a day to allow for work [yes, I *know*], and is raced
about 10 hours a week). Still a very good resistance in the pedals, and
the buttons all work fine. If you like the feel of the thing, go right
ahead and buy one.

You are right, I was referring to NASCAR 2002. Was late last night and had
been racing for awhile. Had it on the brain, but not in the post!!
