Folks...
Since there seems to have been a rash of piracy rampant in the past
couple of months, I'm going to take steps to help us all prevent piracy
on sites and the net...
Here's the deal...
I'm posting this graphic for people to use on their web page. The idea
behind
it is if we police ourselves, we can do more than if we don't. What I'll
do is
create a mail list of anyone who would like to take part in this, where if
an
incident of pirated software occurs, I'll alert members to the site or
poster
in question, and we can take steps to make sure they don't do it again.
Here's how it works...
I'm going to create a page with a list of all the member sites of the
anti-pirate
network. If a page is a member, all they have to do is display the logo
and
they're in. (Let me know, of course!). From that point on, all they have
to do
is two things...never offer or post pirated software, and if they find
pirated
software on the net or newsgroup, alert me of the site or user, and we can
take care of them ourselves. In this fashion, we can reduce the amount of
piracy of sim racing products, especially if we work together to do it.
Examples of things to do to stop a pirate in action....
Urge all member sites to remove links to the site in question.
Post messages to the administrator of the network that the site or poster
is on.
Email the person who is committing the violations.
Anyhow, I've put alot of thought into this problem, and think this could be
a viable
solution. Check The Pits over the next couple of days for a page on the
No-Pirate-Net.
Cheers!
