personally i would appreciate a newsgroup for f1 sims only. i join
rec.autos.simulators every 2-3 days and there are always about 200-300
unread posts, from which 1/3 is about f1.

Actually, the RFD is dead.
The reason why? I let it die.
I entered into the RFD thing as proponent and discussion moderator
because I thought there was a demand. Wiser heads than mine warned
that the need for a split was way over-estimated. Although I agreed,
I decided to continue to familiarize myself with the process.
Anyway, long story short, the last RFD took so long in getting posted
by the USENET volunteers that by the time it DID get posted two things
had happened:
a) The USENET people who track the RFDs had assumed that the split
proponents had had second thoughts and killed the whole thing on their
side
b) The furor had died down over here, making a split impractical and
unwarranted.
So basically, we proved by doing the RFD that r.a.s. does NOT need to
be split, not for a long while anyway.
Anyway, I got some valuable training on the RFD process, so I'm glad
that the experience wasn't a complete waste of time. But if anyone
asks me to do this again, I'll politely but FIRMLY say...:
"PffffffffffffffHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA!!! ... uh, you're joking,
right?"
