I don't have an SB card, but I think you can disable it in Win95 by
going through the Control Panel -> System Properties under Sound
Card...Game controllers there should be one where you can set the
settings.  Here you should have a check box for enable gameport adaptor.

If it is a plug 'n pray card you will need a DOS util to disable it in
DOS.  Creative Labs (http://www.creaf.com/) has 2 utils for configuring
their cards in DOS CTCM & CTCU.  One of these might have an option for
turning off gameport in DOS.  Here is the URL for their ftp sites file
index: http://www.creaf.com/wwwnew/tech/ftp/ftpinx.html

Better yet go straight to Thrustmaster's web site.  They have detailed
instructions (some straight from CL for the AWE32) for dealing with this
issue.  http://www.thrustmaster.com/support/pnp.htm

If it is a plug and play Card... it is not possible. If it is a pre-plug
and play card there is a jumper that needs to be configured... refer to
your cards manual for correct number.

Methods for disabling PNP joystick adapters can be found at Thrustmasters
web page. www.thrustmaster.com
Here is a copy of their info:

Known Procedures for Disabling PnP game ports in Win 95
(it should be noted that these do not work for every system - its purely
trial and error.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------

The methods are in increasing order of complexity:
Method 1:

1.Double-click on the 'My Computer' icon. 2.Double-click on the 'Control
Panel' folder. 3.Double-click on the 'System' icon. 4.Click on the 'Device
Manager' tab. 5.Double-click on Sound, video and game controllers. 6.Go to
Gameport Joystick. 7.Click on Properties tab. 8.Click on Device usage.
9.Remove checkmark from Original Configuration(Current). 10.Click on OK (as
often as needed to get out of Control Panel). 11.Restart.

Method 2:

1.Double-click on the 'My Computer' icon. 2.Double-click on the 'Control
Panel' folder. 3.Double-click on the 'System' icon. 4.Click on the 'Device
Manager' tab. 5.Double-click on Sound, video and game controllers.
6.Highlight any game ports, and remove them. 7.Close Win 95 and shut the
computer off. 8.Remove the PnP Sound Card from the system. 9.Install the
ACM game card. 10.Restart the system. 11.Follow the documentation for your
ACM game card for installation procedures. 12.Close Win 95 and shut the
computer off. 13.Reinstall the PnP Sound Card. 14.Restart the system and
check to see if Win 95 has not re-enabled the sound cards game port.
(There will either be a Red X or a yellow exclamation point showing for the
Gameport Joystick listed in the Device Manager tab in the Control Panel -
System Icon.

Method 3: (this method is directly from Creative Labs - it too does not
work on all systems):

If you aren't using DriveSpace, proceed with the following steps:

1.Reboot the computer. 2.Hit F8 and Command Prompt Only when it says,
"Starting Win95." 3.From the DOS prompt, run the installation for the Intel
Configuration Manager.
?It should have been included on two diskettes with your Sound Blaster
card. ?If not, you can download PNPCMGR1.EXE and PNPCMGR2.EXE from LIB 15
(Misc. Files) (CompuServe CL Forum). ?Or, try Intel's WEB Site.
4.Once this is installed, it will place the DWCFGMG.SYS line in the
config.sys file. 5.Reboot, and go to the Command Prompt Only again. 6.Run
the ICU program from C:\PLUGPLAY\ICU and change the GamePort to "Disable."
7.If you have a PnP BIOS, or get an error on the DWCFGMG.SYS line in the
config.sys, try the following:
?Move the DWCFGMG.SYS line to the very top of the config.sys. ?Then, add
'/FILE' to the end of the DWCFGMG.SYS line: ?Copy 'ESCD.RF' from the
C:\PLUGPLAY\DRIVERS\DOS directory to the root directory ?Reboot.

Method 4:

1.Double-click on the 'My Computer' icon. 2.Double-click on the 'Control
Panel' folder. 3.Double-click on the 'System' icon. 4.Click on the 'Device
Manager' tab. 5.Double-click on Sound, video and game controllers. 6.Remove
the game card. 7.Double-click on the Computer Icon. 8.Click on the Reserve
Resources tab. 9.Click on the Input/Output radio button. 10.Click on the
Add rectangle 11.Change the Start value to 0201 12.Change the End value to
0209 - 11. And 12. will prevent PnP from using those addresses. 13.Select
OK 14.Finish and reboot. 15.Access the Control Panel again 16.Look and see
if the Game card is setup again in the Sound, Video and Game Controllers
section 17.If it is then uncheck the original config box in the Resources
tab. 18.Shut down, install the ACM card and reboot again. 19.Follow the
documentation for your ACM game card for installation procedures. Assign
0201 - 0201 and 0209 - 0209 and ignore any message that Win 95 gives you
that it conflicts with reserved resources.

Method 5:

1.Make sure the AWE 32 PnP is already physically installed & the ACM is
not. 2.Double-click on the 'My Computer' icon. 3.Double-click on the
'Control Panel' folder. 4.Double-click on the 'System' icon. 5.Click on the
'Device Manager' tab. 6.Double-click on Sound, video and game controllers.
7.Highlight the Gameport Joystick entry, and select Properties. 8.In the
General tab, uncheck the box labeled Original Configuration(Current).
9.Choose the Resources tab;
?Uncheck, or verify that the Use automatic settings box is unchecked. ?This
SHOULD disable the AWE 32 PnP joystick port.
10.Shut down your computer 11.Install the ThrustMaster ACM Game Card and
turn on your computer. 12.Double-click on the 'My Computer' icon.
13.Double-click on the 'Control Panel' folder. 14.Double-click on the 'Add
New Hardware' icon. 15.Follow the documentation for your ACM game card for
installation procedures. 16.Gameport Joystick should show as disabled with
a yellow exclamation mark. This would be the AWE 32 pnp joystick port.

Perhaps not in DOS, but from within Win95 it is.  In the Device Manager
just disable the Creative Gameport in your current hardware profile.

1. Search your disk for CTPNP.CFG.
2. Locate the [GAMEPORT] section.
3. Set DISABLE=1.

I made it work in Win '95 by bringing up "Device Manager" from the
Control Panel / System; double clicking the "Gameport Joystick" item,
and checking the "Disable in this Hardware Profile" box.
