"Driver" game for PC

by Scott Melle » Fri, 04 Jul 2003 07:01:07

Hi all. I know this game is not exactly a simulation (lol), but I dug it out
again the other day and would love to get it working properly with my
Logitech Momo Force (the red one). It seems to recognize the wheel itself,
but not much else (not the paddles, not the pedals).

Anyone here ever had this or a similar setup working for this game? Any tips
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Scott.

I loved the physics in this game, but the lack of an in-car driving view put
it on the shelf.

"Lack of an in-car driving view"? Are you sure it's the same game you have in
mind? Driver didn't show a dashboard in the in-car view, but it did have one...

No, it had a HOOD/roof  view out the windshield.

There is no true in-car view.

Its shortcomings aside, did either of you happen to play it long enough to
have used it with a wheel?   lol

Yes, but mine isn't a Momo... It *does* recognize my pedals, it doesn't
recognize the "hat", though. Have you upgraded it to the latest patch version?

Now that you mention it... things start to make more sense. Hmmm...

That's amazing, since I completely blew the line I typed LOL!

What I _meant_ to say was it has a Hood/Roof view, but no true
through-the-windshield in-car view.

It actually worked quite well. It's no GPL <g> but you could feel the
tension go loose when airborne or sliding.

Well, I interpreted it as "it had a hood view right outside the windshield",
which I'd say means the same. I suppose they did it because they never made a
detailed interior for the cars (also explains why windows aren't transparent)...

Make sure you got the V1.2 patch. It makes mixing
keyboard/joystick/wheel
much easier.

Yeah, and the body motion was well done too.

It actually felt like an old Chevelle to me :)
