The need for a no-CD crack is a real one, though -- I buy all the games I
play, and I have a home network with multiple computers and driving wheels,
and it's a pain to have a decent game like SCGT that you can't network
without buying multiple copies. I bought it, I want to play it in the
privacy of my own home with friends and family, but in order to do so, I
have to either burn a CD or buy multiple copies -- and either option in a
pain in the backside. If it's on MY computers and I bought a copy of the
game, I should be able to run it without the CD. I know this violates the
piracy laws, but true piracy is when you hand it out to all your friends so
they don't have to buy copies; as long as I don't pass it around to
everybody -- and as long as I use it in my own home for private purposes --
it should be mine to do with as I please. This is why I really don't like
games that require you to have the CD installed. Plus, I hate it when I
want to change games and I have to locate the CD (and/or figure out which
computer I was using it on last).
Piracy is a problem, but requiring the CD to be in the drive in order to run
the game is just a pain for everyone. EA is really bad about requiring the
CD, and I'll be damned if I'll buy multiple copies of games that are already
overpriced IMO (sell them for $20 each and I probably would buy multiple
copies if required, but $49 is too steep).
Just my $0.02. Flame me if you will.

Just thinking about it cheeses me off, in fact. I think I'll go turn some
hot laps to cool down -- but it probably won't be any of the tracks in SCGT,
'cause I'd have to find the CD first . . .

1 for the bathroom PC so you can drive while you take a dump
1 for the kitchen PC so you can do laps while the microwave popcorn
pops etc etc <g>
