Just picked up Michael Schumacher Kart 2000 for 2.99 at the sale at HMV.
It seems like fun, just need to get those faster Karts unlocked now

I really like the demo, but I can't seem to find it anywhere for sale here
in Canada. Too bad HMV in Canada don't sell video games.

Does the full version support split axis?

It doesn't appear to, unless there's a patch somewhere.

Interesting. From the demo, I find the physics to be quite good, and the
graphics are pretty nice IMO. The only major fault I find with the demo is
the lack of split axis support.

I haven't tried Super Kart though so I can't compare the two.

I'd like a good kart to give me a break from F1 or GT racing.

The split axis issue was brought up when the demo came out.  The company
line was that karts have rear brakes only, therefore you don't need split
axis, it accomplishes nothing.

Probably not. It's just a pain in a$$ for me because I'd have to go and
disable split axis every time I'd want to play MS Kart or else the game does
not work properly, and then switch it back every time I'd want to play F1
2002 or GPL. If Thrustmapper worked fine I could use it to create a profile
for MS Kart, but Thrustmapper is very buggy (I was actually told by a
Thrustmaster techie not to use Thrustmapper)

However, if I saw this game for such a low price, I would buy it anyway, and
hope that Thrustmaster would eventual release a working Thrustmapper
software.

It would be nice if one of these free software wizards would come up with a
generic profiler that works with any controller.  I have a couple of
Logitech controllers, and the Wingman software works fine with them, but
when I want to use my MS joystick I got nothing, because AFAIK they never
got their profiler to work in XP.

Well I use RBJoy to map out the buttons on my wheel (it was recommend to me
by a Thrustmaster techie as an alternative to their Thrustmapper), and it
works great. It supposedly works with any wheel or joystick (I believe Act
Labs also recommends it on their web site), and best of all... it's
freeware.

The one thing that it doesn't do (and Thrustmapper does do), is allow you to
enable or disable split axis for a particular game. If the author of RBJoy
would implement this feature, that would be awesome. Maybe it would be worth
emailing the author about this feature.

What is split axis? Several responses depending on how hard you push
an axis?

Its me;-{)} When its the thing I ask above then its included since
5.2 or something like that. Current version is 5.5.

Nope - it's when the brake and accelerator have an axis each. This means
you have more control over those functions than non-split axis where
basically the brake and accel are opposite functions on the same axis so
pressing the brake and accel together just subtracts the brake value from
the accel.

Man where were you 3 years ago when I had reversed axis in some dumb
sim(I can't even remember which one it was...)I basically tried for a few
weeks to brake with my right foot and throttle with my left...blech!  I'm
no good at thinking and driving at the same time...of course, some will say
I'm no good even when I drive WITHOUT thinking(and they'd be right!!)

The throttle & brake pedals act separately with split axis.

The traditionally more common alternative is to have one pedal act as the up
part, and the other pedal does the down.

If you press both pedals together with the axes combined, they cancel each
other out. Most modern Pedals can do either, since flight sims need combined
axes, and alot of arcade racing games don't support split axis.

Hi Dave,
Where were you? RB-Joy exists for more than 7 years now;-{)}

hi Alan,
I think this is quite difficult to include in RB-Joy because when I
see it right it only works perfect with an analogue response but
RB-Joy can only send something which is like digital on/of or better
key/no key. How is it realized in other key mappers?
