I love this game, I can't drive very well  yet, but I only got it 2
days ago. Anyway as for graphics. The cars seem kind of blocky! (They
seem smoother on the box pictures. Am I using a crappy graphics card?
I have a 486dx2 66mhz 8 meg machine. I only use what came with the
machine.

Also I have a mad-pro 16 soundblaster wanna be sound card. What kind
of changes would I get with a better card (and speakers!)

What kind of improvements can I get upgrading graphics cards as well!?
(this is all somewhat new to me so your help is very appreciated!)

e-mail me or respond here.

Make sure that you are using the -h switch on your command line
(nasacar -h).  Otherwise your cars will look very blocky.

Get in, sit down, and hang on!

No, you are using the default 320x200 video mode, which is faster;
the screen shots are at the higher resolution. You could probably
use the higher resolution with less detail; all in all you
may not be happy with the results but it's up to you.

Don't tell me that you bought nascar for the pure graphics though.
Its strength is really in simulation.

Probably nothing significant unless you're a real audiophile.
The speakers will make the biggest difference. I plug my sound card
into my stereo to get full sound. It's like thunder while exiting the pits
(which is not meant to imply that it's a good thing!).

Depends on what your graphics card *is*. You won't get better graphics
but it might give you a higher frame rate.

Well, it all seems well now. I'm in SVGA mode, just turned off some
textures and it moves right along, to a satisfactory level for me.
People at my house have seen it and say theres nothing wrong with it
and its all in my head, but hey what do they know?? The way it is is
fine, but with a better graphics card to speed things up a bit, I bet
it would be perfect, other than still not having ALL the textures on.
Does anyone play the game in SVGA and have all the Textures on?? I'm
wondering what kind of system are you using?

I'm running with everything except the grass and track textures on.  It
runs fine on my P5-120 this way.  I can't really run with either of these
turned on, but I don't like them on anyway.

Just thought you'd like to know,
Eric

I have played it on several systems, 486DX/2 50, 486/100, 486/66
and a P90, all of which are Dell PC's.  The 486 systems are ok but
when I run on the P90 I can leave ALL of the textures on and it seems
to run fine.

FYI: The system is a Dell SP 590-2 (EISA), 48MB RAM, 3.5GB HD capacity,
ATI Mach 32 w/2MB vid-memory.  (The -2 means that there is a spot
for a second processor but I only have one...)
