GTR2002 Help, Please

by Edward » Tue, 03 Dec 2002 01:39:43

The mod installed just fine, no errors, first time running, Windows Media
Player gives an error about not the right settings/files, but keeps playing
the intro movie. I make a mental note of the error message, which at my age
lasts as long as it takes to click OK :-)
When GTR finally loads up the screen looks like this...
http://www.racesimcentral.net/
have run 3D config (several times), I can enter a name, but hitting enter
just gives that dead key/no response bonk sound.
I uninstalled F12002 and did a fresh install, installed GTR2002...same thing
:-(
F12002 runs just fine though
Check the config file to make sure the video info is the same
System specs..
P4 1.6
512 DDR ram
ATI 8500
SB 5.1
This mod looks soooo good, any help very much appreciated

in 3d setup for the F1 core,  Run 32 bit color and see if that helps.
also try changing your refresh rate...just a hunch there.

GTR2002 Help, Please

Ed,

A few possibilities come to mind:

1.  When you ran set-up and pointed the file to your ORIGINAL F1 2002 executable
file, are you sure that you selected the correct executable?  (If you've
installed any other mod, or run the NoCD patch, it might have changed.  I
pointed it to my new executable from the NoCD patch.  In other words, the
current one that is invoked to now start-up F1 2002.)

2.  Ditto for the original game's CONFIG.INI file.

3.  The only other thing that I can think of is Did you try running it in Win98
compatibility mode?  You're running WinXP, right?  I think that it has some kind
of compatibility mode, doesn't it?  I've got the mod running on my system with
the same VidCard as you, but my OS is Win 98SE.

Can't think of anything else to try at the moment......  Cya tonite!
 Good luck!

Bert

I had the same problem. Running 'GTRun.exe' instead of
the shortcut fixed it. Now the mod was playable, but only
with the viper (car change not possible).
Hand editing the .plr file changing the 'allowed vehicles'
lines to
CURNT Allowed Vehicles="AND: FIA"
PRACT Allowed Vehicles="AND: FIA"
QUICK Allowed Vehicles="AND: FIA"
GPRIX Allowed Vehicles="AND: FIA"
CHAMP Allowed Vehicles="AND: FIA"
fixed that one.

(I found these workarounds on the simmods forum.)

Thank you Mats, that's what it was, instead of "and:FIA" it had "F1 2002
open wheel......"
Once I changed it, it ran great, thanks again:-)
