computer several times a day to change to different types
of joysticks.
I had read that the JOYSWITCH made by Lead Pursuit could
solve my problem.
Does anybody use the Joyswitch and if so how is it?

Erick I've had the Joyswitch for 1 1/2 years and it's one of my
best investments. I fly WB and also do alot of Indycar2 and Nascar over
the modem. Just switching the knob instead of unplugging and plugging
in cables when I change setups has been great. Also it's been trouble
free. I highly recommend the Joyswitch you won't be disappointed.

Hi Erick,
Even if you use a JOYSWITCH, you will need to shut-off your computer
before "switching" with the JOYSWITCH.
You can save some money by buying a gameport extension cord for $5 and
locating it in a convenient place so you can plug-in the new peripherals
without having to crawl under your desk while you wait for your HD to
quit spinning.

The Joystick is the best thing I've bought for my PC in a long long time... :)

Who told you that? I've never shut off my computer when I switch to a
different stick. You can't use the switch after you enter the game.
(i.e. if I was in Nascar, and then switched to EF2000 and didn't
switch the joyswitch to my TM sticks, then the game won't "see" them.)
I just have to exit the game, and reload it. (and make sure I move the
joyswitch to the right port.<G>)

***/Nascar/Win95 stuff.
I ordered a Joyswitch last week, and I should get it
the same day that I get my new Thomas Super Wheel.
(My old T1 is toast! RIP.)
Thanks again

I don't have to turn my puter off to get either/any to work. However, you have
to remember to make your selection before you execute the program.
A-Gravis Gamepad
B-Thrustmaster T-1 driving wheel
C-Gravis Phoenix flight stick thingy
D-nothing...yet

I don't think I'd go so far as to say there is no possible harm.
Unfortunately I wrecked a nice speed adjustable game port card by
changing joysticks with the power applied. I had been doing this for
months with no problem, but it only takes one time to wipe out the card.
By switching the joy-switch you are doing the same thing I was doing
behind the computer, breaking then making contact. The safe bet is to
power off the computer before changing the joyswitch.
If the joystick was an active circuit there may be problems, but it is
passive, a variable resistor. While it is never considered safe to switch
a powered circuit, switching your joystick is not likely to cause
problems. You'll rarely find a joystick maker suggesting that you power
down before plugging your joystick in (unless is something like a FLCS or
such, which does have an active circuit in it).
I've got one of the Joyswitches, it's a very rugged unit, really well
made. I have the FLCS/WCS2 and T1 setups, so I switch frequently (love
flight-sim and car sims!), and I've yet to have a problem.
