What is the red lite on the dash for...I know it must be simple and I am just
missing it.......

That's what it is............when it starts blinking, it's a good idea to
shift :)

There are actually four red lights - three directly on the dash, and one on
top of the speedometer. Which one are you referring to?

Actually, when it starts to blink, it indicates that it WAS a good idea
to shift about 1000 RPM ago.

NR2002-Red Lite on Dash

WHy not just explain all of them and answer the question right away?  The big one high on the dash
and to the left is the rev-warning light.  There are 3 smaller lights, one next to each gauge that
are idiot warning lights telling you to check that gauge, as you have a problem.

It's the Ford(tm) tissue dispenser.  It automatically dispenses
tissues when your car doesn't have a significant aerodynamic advantage
over your opponents.  There's also now an option to have your pitcrew
remove your rear spoiler completely during pitstops.  Both of these
features only work if you're driving the Ford chassis.
