How come GPL never got a Ras race group going, like N2002 has ?

Most of the N2002's seem to be GPLer's too, so maybe we still can.........
?

IMO, because the quality of GPL has always been so much higher than the lets wreck everyone in sight
atitude that seems to permeate the papy Nascar sims...it was never really necessary

Well, I've said before, don't know about that :)  Tune into Vroc today
for that matter...........lots of banning going on because of wreckers.

Call me thick ("you're thick" - Ed), but I never even realised you
could get banned on VROC. How does it work - can a host set up a
"banned list", or do they have to manually kick people?

Good question, I was wondering that myself.  Saw some guys though, (Remco,
Bevan, few others), saying that so and so was banned ?  Only there for a few
minutes, so don't know if they meant race or vroc itself.

Since VROC works as an IRC server down in the chat, they can ban any kind of
person there for an XYZ number of time.  The VROC server by itself that
brings the racing server information back to each member of VROC can
probably filter out certain people either by IP or login name.

I'm not so sure that's the real deal, but IIRC it is 8)

It's only a bit different. The IRC (chat) part uses the nomal IRC
methods to ban someone. There is no such things as a VROC IRC server,
WinVROC logs on to Shadowworld as a lite IRC client. The racelist part
works a bit different.

The IP in use of each driver logged on to the racelist is known by the
server. Recently there is an IP blocker installed on the server, so
now it's possible to lock out certain IPs. It's a pitty that this was
needed, though.

Well, we 'sort of' had one.  The RASCAR is an extension of the GPL GP length
online races that I host.  These just happen to be run more often...<g>

John...one guy has been causing trouble, and we are working on ridding him
from the system.  One person.  Not sure where you get "lots of banning"
from.  Maybe you should stay for more than a few minutes if you want to know
the whole story.

Maybe.  I tried to run some add-on tracks before(Road Atlanta, IMS), but we
ended up with less than desirable attendance...
