I have responded to several appends to this.
The title should make it clearer to anyone just skimming.

I looked for a fair while in the main areas and I could not
find anything.
The closest was a full page ad in the programme, but that made
no mention of a stand, it just said available on cd-rom
I also did not see anyone carrying MPS or SH bags, so I
am convinced to was not there.
(OK I did not check down the infield, or every car park, and
there were a few burger stands that I did not look under......

Anyone know where this wishful thinking started ?

Cheers,

Well I asked at the Info centre and they said Microprose had booked a
stand but didn't turn up !! They said Sony was there plugging it's new F1
game but I never found that either :-(

I LOLed reading that, but somehow this doesn't surprise me. MPS could
write a book called "How Not To Launch a Product", with F1GP2 of
course being the central product, ably supported by Grand Prix Manager
and the fabled patch.

Bummer, eh. It might have been in some of the corporate hostility
tents, as i wouldn't do to have the enthusiatic fans getting in the
way of the freebee brigade.

BTW, have you checked out SRN for the latest on Sony's F1? If I could
plug my TSW into the PSX, I'll buy the hardware when F1 comes out, as
it looks and races like the business.

My local game store bod said that the original release date (14th
July) that tied in with the British Grand Prix was made by someone at
Microprose before they realised that it was a Sunday and therefore
not consistent with their usual Weds./Friday releases. If they
thought that Grand Prix are usually run mid week it's no wonder the
release has been such a*** up!!!

Sony were in the Marboro F1 building.

Well, they might be able to write such a book but you think they will
be able to publish it???

Not us! Formula 1 was in the Marlboro Grand Prix Experience, opposite
the podium (for the over 18's only) and also at the Sony Jamminator, a
big hardware exhibition, round about Maggots, I think.

Thanks!

And as for F1GP2 at the Grand Prix,  this is what we found......

I'm told it  was there, albeit in a closed 'invite-only' hospitality
suite. Apparently they had it up and running in a simulator - I'm
presuming the full-blown GP500, which if you get the chance to have a
go in, do!

Interestingly enough, our game was visited by two very knowledgeable
'caterers' from the Bristol area, who seemed to know an awful lot
about texture maps - and funnily enough later turned up in the
aforementioned Microprose hospitality suite.......

So F1GP2 was there, but not the way we were all expecting!
