I guess all I can say is that golf is almost a complete game about grass and
rolling resistance on it.  Racing is about asphalt and racing on it, so I
would think that getting it right would be a higher priority.  I know the
grass is not the greatest but I kinda like people being punished for running
off the road for once.

If grass and everything else is even remotely realistic, you will be
punished for driving on it.  It should never act like sand or glue, however.

I believe racing is  about surface and racing on it. Since SCGT also
models rain, you _might_ expect a better simulation of grass. I hope I
am wrong, but I am afraid the rain physics is just eye candy with less
grip, instead of dynamicaly modelling a wet track.

I see what you are saying and what is just the hilarious thing is that in a
post a few weeks ago, we were talking about rain, and they were saying that
GPL just needed simple rain, lower grip, visual effect yet others (including
me) said that dynamic rain would be needed with a dynamic weather system and
puddles at places on the track and flow of water etc, yet people said that
it was unnecessary and that it just has to be a simple less grip and visual
effects type of thing.  Just thought it was funny that now that we get the
less grip alternative, people start criticizing it, even though a dynamic
system would be great, its not a necessity.

If you want a penalty for putting a wheel off the track, then sticky
grass is the last thing you want. Peeling your car off a barrier after
hitting it at 150mph is a slightly larger penalty than having a sudden
spill of superglue under you. If this is supposed to be a *sim* then
this type of modeling of trackside physics makes a joke of it. I think
this type of nonsense is even too arcadey for an arcade game!
