How many laps should I be able to do with a full tank / new tires?  Right
now I run out of fuel at lap 44, and the tires are almost gone.  Is this
about right?

Thanks,

Robert

Ditto on the tires.  I tried this with a 3.3 4th gear.

It depends on gear ratio & driving style.  I run a 3.40 4th gear & pit
on lap 42 with .2 gal left & the tire wear bars almost vanished for
the right side.

I can go about 41 laps on fuel and tires.  when fuel is gone, right rear
is very red, left rear is yellow and right front has just turned red.
I've been running laps at 195.5 to 196.5 mph (out in front, little or no

Same here.  But if I miss my lines late (laps 30-35), I pit at around
39-40.  Tire wear really goes down missing your lines with worn
tires....

What temp is the game set at?  If I leave it random, the computer usually
keeps the temp in the 70-80 range.  With this temp setting,  I was able to
run 45 laps with a 3.3 gear,  but the lap speeds were in the 193-194 range.
It never came close to redlining.  I tinks I will set it to 3.4 tonight
and see if the engine will hold up.

Ain't that the truth.  One lap you can get away with missing the line, the
next you are driving on ice.  I only pit during cautions, or when the
spotter is telling me to do so.  When I come in at lap 44-45, the r/f & r/r
tires are just a little red line.  About 2 pixels thick.  The l/r is yellow
and the l/f is green.

What kind of setup are you running? I ran a full race on the tally
converted to daytona track the other night and never wore the tires past
the yellow stage? i was pulling 204 laps steadily....am i missing
something? or have I just hit a damn good setup? it seems odd to me that
I seemed to have such good tire wear. I was running a 3.20 4th and pit
stops were coming at approximately lap 35...i can see i was getting bad
milaege, but for the better grip, i think I'll deal with it...

BTW I finished 2nd...

A slightly modified ACE setup.

steadily....am i missing something?

Well, it sounds like you are missing the restrictor plate, for one thing.
:-)  204 laps?

If you tires were yellow at lap 35, then you are about the same as me.  I
was talking about a tire that had 44 laps on it, not 35.

...i can see i was getting bad milaege, but for the better grip, i think
I'll deal with it...

When the restrictor is off, all I can get is 35 laps on gas also.  But I
don't usually run that way, since the NRO is going to be with the plate on.
The most I have ever got with N2 is 45 laps, and I ran out of gas and
coasted bact to the pits.

Yes I was running without the plate, sorry, i thought i noted that it
was the conversion to daytona....(it doesn't have a plate)

I am glad I'm not off my rocker... I am really just getting going with
the sim, i love it. and I hope to run in teh NRO on occasion, but I
doubt I can afford the cost. I'm lucky to make rent on most months...

Hopefully we can get the Internet *** zone running better with N2!

I thought they used the plate at Daytona also...  Or are you just talking
about the conversion having the plate off?

Well, I am waiting to see what the full NRO/Ten price tag will be before
making a up my mind.  As long as it is under $30 a month I can probably
sneak it by the wife.  If not, I will have to stick to 12:00am to 4:00am
races through Kali. This is when I get the best ping times, and since I
registered Kali back when it first came out for Win95, I consider it paid
for, so my racing is free.

I just installed the new IGZ software last night.  Maybe we can meet up
there some time.

Ten has two rate plans, but I have no clue how much (if any) extra the NRO
will cost:
Flat rate (all you can eat):
 Monthly fee: $19.95 per month

TEN local access number use: $.95 per hour (OPTIONAL)

Hourly rate (includes 5 hours with monthly fee):
Monthly fee: $9.95 per month

Hourly TEN service fee: $1.95 per hour (after first 5 hours)
TEN local access number use: $.95 per hour (OPTIONAL)

I haven't used TEN's front-end for any multiplayer games, but I did try
QuakeWorld over one of their local 'enhanced' dial-up numbers.  My ping
times were about 20-25% higher than on my current connection (Emory U).
Not exactly stellar performance...
