Cheap Promotional Tactics

Curse that COMPUsa!  First they advertise ICR for FREE if I buy
another software package at $19.99 or more, then I get there, there
are over 300 people in there crammed nut to butt, I can't find
ICR ANYWHERE, then after 45 minutes of waffeling looking for it on
the shelf, someone says, "Oh, we're distributing a special promotional
package".

"You have to pick out your software, then we'll give you ICR at
the checkout."  Duh...like they didn't tell me that to begin with!

So I wound up getting MS Flight sim, a joystick, and ICR at the
checkout.  Didn't come in the nice box, but at least I got the
diskettes and the manual.  It came with disks that say v1.03, so
I'm thinking I only have to apply the 1.04 patch.

I only have 4 meg of memory, but was able to start the game at the
Milwaukee Mile (I live in Milwaukee).

I have so much to learn.....

Just wanted to get that off my chest....Shame on COMPUsa...

The big question is Pete, was it worth it? Let's see: we'll take a generic
consultant rate of US$70/hour. We'll assume ICR goes for US$35, so, did it
take you over 30 minutes to find out about how they were handling the
promotion???? If it didn't, at this rate you made money (even if it didn't
come with the fancy packaging), if not, well... :>

Sorry Pete, but I'm a firm believer in caveat emptor. I do have sympathy for
you since I've been screwed in the past also.

In all honesty, these type of experiences and their lessons *will* help out in
later life!

I wouldn't shop their unless I already tried out the software/hardware I
intended to buy. Like Egghead, they do have a shady side to their operations
(previous experience).

Cheers Pete, no disrespect ment by my post,
