Hi,
This last few years or so I'd gotten cheesed off with sim racing. I thought
GPL was mint and spent hrs on it.
But when mod after mod appeared on F1RC and I got lost in all the setups. No
matter what I did everybody always seemed to be much faster than me ( okay,
maybe I didn't apply myself to FIRC as much as GPL, but I always felt
everybody was running hacks whilst I ran a stock basic game )

So , I've just decided to turn over a new leaf. I've just bought GTR today
from GAME for 15 quid an I'm ready to get back into it again.

I've noticed F1RST2 has now become FIRST3, so I'll get that running.

So my next problem is my FF steering wheel assy. I'm on my 2nd
Guillemott(Thrustmaster) Ferrari wheel as my 1st one sufferred from perished
wiring in the steering column due to the radial movement. I got my 2nd
Ferrari wheel about 2 yrs ago but that has since gone crazy.....the forces
either don't work or they go mad and shake the wheel to pieces, plus pull
heavily to the left.

So I'm on the lookout for a decent robust FFB wheel, preferably a used one
off Ebay that has a good rating on this NG.

Or alternatively is there any way to make my Ferrari wheel behave like a
bios flash or something ?

Pls help me get back into the saddle
Thx

Don't forget racing online you are racing against potentially some of
the best racers in the world. Imagine starting to play tennis at your
local club and then entering a Grand Slam Tournament...

To avoid getting disheartened try to find a league around your level or
be prepared to find some similar racers at the middle or back of the
pack in pick up races.

Just like any other sport talent varies and the amount of practice time
varies even more.

A Logitech DFPro is an excellent and well built model IMHO

Cheers

Yes, don't be put off buy the PS2 label, it works well on the PC apparently.

If you really are looking for second hand, any of the Logitech Momo wheels
but they're like the proverbial rocking horse s***.

I don't understand how a PS2 labelled device can work on a PC. Does it have
multi interface cables and different drivers or soemthing ?

Logitech Driving force Pro.  so you know.  I hear it doesnt come out of the
box ready to "PC" bu tyou get drivers that work with some (or is it any)
other LOGI brand wheel, works like a freaking champ (Im going by consensus
of posts).

SOmeone here has one, you might start a thread about it, or my better idea,
GOOGLE.COM search this group about that wheel.
Good drivin to ya...

True. The drivers can be downloaded from here:

http://www.wingmanteam.com/latest_software/latest_soft_xp.htm

Enables selection of degrees of turn up to 900 degrees with any game by
selecting it in the Wingman utility. LFS S2 (not sure about any others)
enable changes to degrees of turn in its own interface.

The proverbial what? -I can fill in the blanks, but I don't get the

They don't eat much, so rocking horse sh*t is quite rare :-)

Aaaaah.... (light comes on).

I had a mental picture of a rocking horse, but didn't make the link to them
being extremely well house trained. <g>

Thanks Andrew.

Sorry, some 'sayings' just become second nature in meaning, but if you've
not seen them before they can be confusing.

Andi.

PS There's 20 hits on ebay for Logitech Momo, only one being the original
leather wheel. The rest are Momo Racing. 12 DFP's and no Rocking horse
struff!

PPS, Ebuyer is selling DFP's for less than most advertised on ebay.

The DFPro is nice, but if you have a desk with a rounded edge it will NOT
stay put.

Logitech left the third (middle) deep clamp off the DFPro for some
illogical, stupid, assanine, insane reason.

Dummies.

My desk has rounded edges and I've had no trouble fixing the DFPro to it.
