Note that this post applies if you are planning to use your PC for playing
games...

You will probably find that unless you spend some more and upgrade the
graphics card too, you will not see huge performance improvements. You could
have an AMD Athlon 1200 and still not be able to play anything more modern
than Quake 2. If you are not looking to spend much, a GeForce 2 MX card
should do the trick nicely.

You might want to spend more on your CPU cooler too.

Just MHO.

Alex.

If you're keeping the ATI card and want to run GPL, you better keep the
voodoo as well. The ATI will not run GPL very well in any available
rasterizer.

What do you recommend for an ATX case?  Any particular brands/models?

I have the AcerOpen HX45 mid tower. Works very well for me, and before you
think you might not get a lot in a mid tower - I have - 2 hard drives, a
cd-rom drive, a cd-rw, sblive card, GeForce2 MX vid card, network card, 300
watt PC Power & Cooling ps, and still have a couble bays left to play with -
oh, and 3 fans.

Some people do nothing wrong.
The problem is, they do nothing.
And THAT is wrong.
