Superkart questions

I bought Superkarts recently, and although I really like the game, it has
presented me with a problem.

On my system, I have a Tseng ET4000 1MB video card.  Although the game runs,
all of the the colors are messed up.  It almost looks like an old CGA
display.  I took it to a friends machine with the same type video card, and
got the same result.  However, the game runs fine on other systems with a
different brand video card.  Is this just an incompatibility with the card,
or is there some bigger problem with the game?

Also, in troubleshooting this, I had to copy the game over the network to
one of the PC's I wanted to test it on.  Upon running the game, it crashed
the machine.  I was told that the game is designed to be run from CD-ROM,
and that it is checking for the disk in the ROM drive.  Any idea's if this
is true or not?  And, if so, is there a way to play the game on a PC that
does NOT have a CD-ROM?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
