Reinstalled Win ME, Now I can race...

by Russell D. Laughlin Jr » Sun, 23 Dec 2001 15:24:10

Hey,
I have been messing with XP as of late, but my MS FF Pro doesn't work with
XP, so I set up a dual boot config for ME/XP.  I plan to live and breathe on
XP and use ME to play sims.  I've installed N4, NFS:PU, F1RC2K, SBK2001, and
MCM 2.

My GPL CD is staring at me lovingly as if to say "what about me?"  Is it
true that GPL won't work with 512 Megs of RAM?

Also, am I current with the good sims?  Any I should check out?  It's been a
while since I played any racing sims and haven't been current.

Thanks,
Russ

GPL(and most other programs) react strangely under any Win9X OS with MORE THAN 512MB, as long as you
only have 512 it should not be an issue.

I find it strange you are having torubles with the MS- ffwheel, and XP, I
asked a question on this very board, and owners of the FF wheel told me it
workd fine?  however you MUST to reinstall the software for the wheel AFTER
you do XP...  just insert the disk, it will ask you if you want to install
the control panel applet, and the Schemes...  IGNORE the install warning
about "not specifiacly designed for xp" and all should be fine at least it
was for me.  I had to go in and  recalibrate about everything, but least it
worked..

As long as the MSFFW in question is a USB model, and the SideWinder 4.0
software for that particular device is used (there are several different
'versions' of SideWinder 4.0), then it should work ok in XP.

It will complain at installation that it might not be compatible, but punt
that dialog away and it will install fine.
