great (arcade) driving game again: Speedbusters! In the demo you get the
Hollywood track and a nice fifties car. Once more, the graphics (and FPS)
are awesome! The demo gives you a real 3D enviroment: no simple cardboard
walls with 25 buildings in a row projected on them (like in Testdrive 4),
but real 3D: all kinds of differetn buildings: no repetition. And you can
drive anywhere, as long as there are no clear, visible roadblocks. And there
are REAL sidewalks! No more Need for Speed sidewalks which you can't drive
on (invisible walls) or TD4 which had it's sidewalks just painted on the
road. This is real thing. And NO POP-UP at all! How do they do that?! Can't
the give a few seminars to all the other game companies? Please? Feeling of
speed is good (though not as good as Motorhead, which is still the fastest
game around!) The only pity is there will be only 6 tracks... But you get
all the usual extra's (reverse, mirrored and a lot of different daytimes).
In the demo you drive through Hollywood at daytime and also at sunset
(randomly). There are nice moving objects, which are different everytime
(first round, a dragon crosses your patch from left to right, the next round
he walks the other way with fire coming out of his mouth. And King Kong
looks nice too, smashing the road (watch out for his fist!) Oh yeah: you can
damage your car too!
In other words: get this demo: it's worth it.
