Thrustmaster Spring Kits outside US/Canada?

by Neil Matthe » Mon, 29 Nov 1999 04:00:00

Hi,

Anyone know how to get hold of TM repair kits ouside N America?
Both the .COM and .CO.UK Thrustmaster sites refer to an on-line
store that only accepts orders to the US and Canada. Bummer.

I'm in the UK and my two year old F1 (Nascar Pro) has broken a pedal
spring, so I was pleased to discover that Guillemot were going to
make spares available (at a price, but that's another story).

So, anyone know how to get to a non-US ordering site?

Cheers
Neil

I was mad when I had the same problem, now very happy.  I gave up
looking and decided to get a little creative and do it myself.  There's
a couple of articles to spark your imagiantion at The Pits.
http://www.theuspits.com - go to the stock car page, choose utilities,
and scroll it all the way to the bottom - T1 fix.
I've experimented with different spring strenghths and lengths, and now
I have the perfect tension for me - much better than original!
I basically took a small, 3" eye bolt (machine bolt & nut) and put it
sideways through the lever just above the plastic "floor" heigth.  I cut
away some of the plastic floor for clearance, and put another, shorter
eye bolt with large washers through the metal bottom of the unit about 3
inches in front of the pedal.  I then put a 2 1/2 " .050 spring between
the two.  Got all the parts in the same isle at Home Depot for about $5.

Go to thrustmaster's wensite link to their new owner and pick up the
phone and call the number in Montreal.  Then ask them if they will
ship you the springs:
