by zero or more of the following flags: `K' (used keyboard), `NTH' (no
traction help), `NSH', (no steering help), `R' (100% distance race),
`r' (sub-100% distance race), `P' (practice session), `S' (slick
tyres), `W' (wet tyres; not likely to see many of these!), `AB' (used
auto-brakes), `AG' (used auto-gears), `CC' (cut corners or chicanes).

Rules for entry
***************
1. You must use the MS-DOS version of Formula 1 Grand Prix (aka World
Circuit) by Microprose. No other simulator may be used. (Drivers
are strongly advised to upgrade to version 1.04 or later.)
Hopefully when F1GP2 comes out I'll support that too.
2. You need to register by sending your real name along with an
e-mail address at which they can be contacted. I will return a
unique identifying code (the `driver ID') which is then used when
submitting entries; this is typically your initials. You can
register when sending in your first records and/or race times; in
this case, leave the `DriverID' in the entry form blank.
For example, I'm DriverID `DPG', `Dave Gymer', at
`dgy...@gdcarc.co.uk'.
3. You should be careful to provide all the information requested as
`required'; missing items may result in my assuming the most
pessimistic defaults.
For example, if you don't explicitly state that you don't cut any
corners, I'll assume that you did.
4. There are two categories of entries; one for times which include
cut corners or chicanes, and one for those that don't.
5. Entries are not required to be authenticated using GPLAP, since a
really determined dishonest player could fake authenticated
records (using techniques such as reverse engineering).
Therefore, your honesty is assumed.
6. The AI grip and power settings for computer cars are unrestricted.
7. Slipstreaming (drafting) other cars is permitted.
If possible, you should declare this in the `Notes' section of the
entry form if you're sending in a lap time; this is just so people
trying to equal the time know.
8. Players must not increase their car's power; using less than the
default 716BHP is acceptable but not recommended.
9. There are no setup restrictions on wings, gear ratios, brake
balance, or default tyre selection.
Again, if you wish you can include these settings to help (or
challenge) others.

Once you've got a DriverID, send times directly to me, preferably
using the form provided below. Feel free to delete the bits in [square
brackets], which are just to help you know what to enter there. If
you're sending several entries in at once, you can put all the items
common to all the entries at the top, to avoid duplicating them
(typically everything but the time and track). This also helps me to
process them.

This is a place for my random mutterings; I'm actively seeking input
on any and all points raised. Send all thoughts to

If anyone is in a position to set up a mailing list to discuss this
kind of thing, and/or distribute the HOF, I'd be real interested to
hear from you!
After some consideration, I've decided to abandon all thought of
storing full race times; they don't mean enough, and nobody has sent me
any anyway. For many of the same reasons, I've decided not to include
race lap records either (except as part of the normal tables).
This edition is in a new format; most of the information has been
moved into the Notes field of each entry; there are only two
categories, one for cheating and one for everything else; there is now
a scoring system similar to the one Edo uses in the Amiga HOF, but
paying out points for the top 12 places (based on the IndyCar points
system).
Whilst all entries are still stored together, I've had to abandon
plans to store them in a true database because of a lack of good, free
relational database systems for MS-DOS.
A few drivers have requested and been sent DriverIDs but have not
sent in any records; there are points for the top 12 entries, so you're
still due some!
A couple of people have made comments about setups; if you want to
include setup details in the Notes for each entry, I will include the
details along with each time's entry. You are, however, under no
obligation whatsoever to declare setups; they are, after all, `trade
secrets'!
