Rain tires offer more grip?

I discovered quite by accident, but has anyone tried using rain tires in
dry weather?  For fun, I went out at Long Beach with rain tires in good
weather, and almost immediately noticed better traction.

I've managed to consistently pull of better track times at Laguna Seca and
Long Beach with them.  Has anyone tried or noticed this?

I'vew noticed that as well.  Only problem is at long beach, I've got to
change one of the tires to the regular/soft kind.  Can't remember which
one, as I'm into NASCAR Racing.  Only low rez, since the dx4-100 isn't a
pentium 100 yet.  That will wait until ICR2.

Yes, I use rain tires in the dry for qualifying as long as the tire temperature stays below about 240.  They tend to
overheat in longer runs.  You might also try a rain tire on the left front on ovals.

Exactly.  I've been using rain tires on a dry track for a while, and
they do offer better grip.

Yes, I guess it's just a cheap way to make the rain tyres work.
A wet track is defined as slippery, so to be able to drive it properly simply
give rain tyres more grip. The programmers didn't think about using rain
tyres (which are "very high grip" tyres) on a dry (not slippery) track. When
you do this you have double grip. It's just something the programmers have
overlooked.

I wouldn't try and race a long race with them, they'll blow out....
