Bug in GpLap / F1GP, can be used for cheating with results

Hiya... I just found an interesting bug in GpLap that allows me
to drive with whatever HP I desire even if the GpLap program reports
that I've used the standard 716. It seems save games also save the hp
information, so if I modify my car hp to say 950, save a game, quit,
modify my car back to standard 716 and then load the game, the car will
perform like it has 950 hp, but GpLap will write an authentication
record that says 716 hp. Just thought y'all should know...

What version of GpLap are you using? I believe version 5.0
fixes that problem.

*Earlier message about GPlap save game bug deleted*

I'm using 5.0, so apparently it doesn't fix it. Hopefully the next
version will, though.

No, it doesn't. But it is a known bug, so it will probably be fixed in the
next version.
GPLap _does_ fix the hp degradation that f1gp does for the player's car.
I found out the Amiga version did this too (degradation upto 23 hp), and
have fixed it. This patch will be included in f1gp-ed 3.0 by Oliver Roberts.

Actually it does fix it. Trust me, if you try and cheat, you _will_ be
found out. I know it _looks_ like you've succsessfully cheated...

What's GpLap? Are you talking about Nascar racing? Do you know
of a source code for Nascar that's out?

                                 Thanks, Joel
