my t2 jerks in the center of the wheel after a hard race at sears

Sounds like the steering pot could be dirty.  Get thee forth to a
electronics supply store (Radio Shack will do) and find some
"tuner/switch cleaner".  Open up the hood of your T2 and spray some into
the "pot" at the base of the steering post (the pot is the thing that
the wires are soldered to).  Mover the steering wheel back and forth to
get the clearner on all of the contacts.  Most of the tuner/switch
cleaners that I have seen also lubricate, thus the cleaning process
should also lengthen the life or your steering pot.
