I can start dead last and win with my setup.

My issue is that I have to tap the brake through the turns to achieve
this speed. Is this normal?

Also it appears the draft does not have much SPEED affect on the car.
Is this normal?

Last but not least, I'm using a joystick:
Would my lap times increase with a wheel?

Wich wheel would be recomended?

Keep in mind I'm a car race freek, looking at Sierras' website it
doesn't appear force feed back is a priority, SO is Force  Feed Back
wheels a must?

Thanks,
John

>I can start dead last and win with my setup.

What percentage is the race length?  I'd like to see your setup.  I
found the exact opposite.  I wasn't able to win from the back of
the pack, and I used to with N2.
I was finding that I couldn't catch the leaders if I didn't stay in line
with
the other cars (at least one).  And even then I had to keep "Bump
Drafting"
    in order to catch up.
I found at first, when I got a wheel (I have an "Ultimate Per4mer"
wheel), I found
    my times decreased.
Don't really have an opinion that carries any weight, as I've only tried
one.

I have tried force feedback joysticks on other games, and I feel it
would just get in the way.

might want to check the track text file and make sure the restrictor plate
is enabled

You have the restrictor plate off.

It's normal when you have the restrictor plate off.>Also it appears the draft
does not have much SPEED affect on the car.

Yes, when you have the restrictor plate off.  Put it back on and bump the AI up
to 116% and you'll see how much the draft affects the speed.

More than likely.  I think it'd be easier to run a smoother line through the
turns.

As long as your restrictor plate is removed, you should be able to start
a lap down and still win against the AI. Put the restrictor plate back
in and then win from the back.
With the plate in I hit 203 to 204 going in to turn 3, and get laps at
about 196 or 197. I don't race dega much, prefer tracks that require
skill ;)

heh, try drafting with the AI at 116% or 117%.  It isn't so easy then.

Agreed...117-120% (and starting from the back) I can usually finish around
15th or so...Mucho fun when the AI are hot.

Cheers!

The only time I've seen brakes needed at Taledega is when the plate is
turned off.

Also, are you saying you are running 205-207mph overall lap times, or is
that the speed going into turn 3?

If that is overall lap times, then your plate is turned off.  There is
no way to get a 205 lap time with the plate on at Dega.

I turned a little over 200mph at Dega in a race on TEN and that was in a
draft in 40 degree weather. And with  NR1999 i easily turned 210 at Dega
without the PLATE but all i did was take my best dega setup and changed 4th
gear but ya have to slow down to about 204 mph exiting the turns.
