Simulation Racing Controls (SRC) WARNING!!!

by Andrew » Sat, 26 Feb 2000 04:00:00

I don't like to vent my frustrations in public forums, but I feel this bit
of info is important for RAS readers.

Last September I decided to place an order for a wheel from Simulation
Racing Controls (www.mindspring.com/~srcwheel).  I exchanged emails with two
individuals that represented SRC.  They were both very helpful and prompt in
answering all my questions so I felt very comfortable in committing a good
deal of money (~$500) with them.  I placed my order and included a check.
Over the next several months I eagerly awaited the delivery of my wheel.  As
the expected ship date drew near, I wrote SRC asking how things were going.
I was told that they were hard at work and that it should ship soon.  A
month passed and I failed to receive my wheel.  I sent off another email and
again promises were made that the wheel would ship in the next month.  A
month later and the wheel still did not arrive.  I sent another email, and
after a week or two wait, I received a response that the wheel would ship
around the beginning of 2000.  Of course it did not...  It's now quickly
approaching March and I have not recieved my wheel, nor can I get SRC to
answer my emails or phone calls.

I've completely given up hope in receiving a wheel and have written off my
$500.  No big deal I guess, live and learn.  The point of this post is
simply to warn others that are in the market for a high quality wheel to
avoid SRC.  I have regrets in posting this because I truly believe that SRC
had good intentions but obviously something went wrong.  An apology or a
email explaining the situation would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath.

Again, I don't want to *** but I do want RAS to be aware of the situation.
This wasn't an isolated case.  I know of two other individuals that have had
trouble receiving their wheels.  One of them eventually did take delivery,
and from what I can tell, he is the last to do so.

Give me $500.00 and I'll build a wheel for you.  I'll even put two
shifter buttons on it.  It'll only take me three months to build it, so
get your order in now ;-)

If you want your money back contact the state attorney generals office and their
local better business bureau. But if you want to kill their business post on
ras.

Thanks for the warning and very sorry to hear of your troubles. It is
unfortunately not an uncommon story these days. Too many people going off half
***ed thinking they can start a business.

Sounds to me like their business needs to be "killed".

Doesn't sound like much of a "business," does it? $500 is a lot of money
(to me, anyway) -- I appreciate the public warning. People who do
"business" on the net should be aware how public their actions are...

Simulation Racing Controls (SRC) WARNING!!!

by Barton Brow » Sun, 27 Feb 2000 04:00:00

SRC's site seems to have been last updated in July of 1999 -- here's the
blurb on their homepage:

<< It has come to my attention that people have been E-mailing

searching into this, there seems to be a problem with this email account
for some reason. I will continue to look into this. So for the time

this confusion.

Also, If you have a Order with SRC your units will ship the first week
of September.
Thanks,
Rodney Revis
Effective July 1st,1999 >>

I think seven months is MORE than the benefit of the doubt, and should
be enough time even for someone on perenially screwed-up Mindspring to
sort out their email problems.

If I may make a suggestion: the last time someone online tried to hose
me (they had told me it would take a minimum of a month to "track down
my lost shipment"), I prepared a complaint to be sent to BBB Online and
my state's AG Office of Consumer Affairs. I notified the online company
that they had seven days to deliver either my merchandise or my money. I
had the merchandise two days later. My advice would be to do the same,
and email these hosers at both their addresses, return receipt. A
snailmail to their land address (return receipt) couldn't hurt either...

I am in the exact same spot Andrew is in.
I ordered mine Oct 1st.  Last I heard, it would be
on my doorstep by Christmas.
Time to send some of my "boys" to confirm/deny
the existance of SRC and/or Rodney Revis

Simulation Racing Controls (SRC) WARNING!!!

This is a shame because the wheel unit looked to be a good product, especially
the pedal engineering.

I wish you luck in getting your money back.  I would not want the wheel at this
time as you could probably determine what kind of resolution you would get with
any kind of trouble you had with the unit.  If you get your money back, $500
will buy you a damn good setup with the Thomas Superwheel folks.

OR.. if you are like me, buy an ACT-LABS force RS and RS Shifter for under $200
;)

Good luck, but whatever you do... do NOT give up on getting your money back and
just write it off.

Simulation Racing Controls (SRC) WARNING!!!

by Kenny L » Sun, 27 Feb 2000 04:00:00

enough is enough
I have filled out a complaint form at SRC's local BBB found here
http://www.greenville.bbb.org/

and surprisingly enough, the phone is now busy at SRC.
One last chance SRC, answer the phone...or I'm hitting send.
Larry Pitts, Dave Trager, you out there?
