in NFSU full version, why does my car lose power a lot?

Hi.  I'm running the full version of NFS Underground on a PC
(p4-2.66/512meg/ATI).

Many times in underground, I lose power.... and giving it gas doesn't help.
Yes, I know that happens a little when you are being drafted from behind,
but it also happens when nobody is behind me.  Is it because I've hit too
many signs and damaged my car?  Possibly because I've over-revved the engine
and damaged it?

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I have been playing it for the last two days and haven't noticed this.
Is your controller losing calibration? Are you manual shifting and your
RPM's dropping too low?
I haven't seem a major effect from hitting signs other than a temporary
slow down.
The game is great fun by the way.

Not sure what you mean exactly. I haven't seen this happen to me.
Possible the brakes are being applied at the same time the gas is? Just
fishing here.

My brakes are a button....
I guess it might be a problem with the controller though...
I don't know how to "calibrate" it.

Do you guys see that you get slowed down when somebody drafts behind you?

Thanks

To be honest, I have no clue. I'm to busy trying to keep the car going
where I want it to properly. If there is a dramatic obvious slowing down
I'd notice that, but I haven't (if that makes sense).

For me, there are times when an axis or button gets stuck in NFSU.
Teems to be random, could be steering, throttle, shift button, etc.
It dosn't happen too often, and usually pressing buttons or moving
axis and restarting seems to get it to work again. It's not my
controller, as this only happens in NFSU.

cool, thanks.  I'll check that out....
Maybe it's my excuse to get a wheel   8-)

Is the Logitech Momo a good one to use with NFS games?

thanks

What's odd about this is that in GPL both cars go faster when drafting,
which makes more sense to me:  The lead car benefits from turbulence and
vortices off the rear end being reduced, while the tail car
benefits...exactly how do you explain how the tail car benefits?  Perhaps
from a low-pressure area being created behind the lead car?

The hole has already been punched in the air by the leading car, so there's
less air-friction for the car following to have to overcome. Of course, less
air means less downforce, so it can be difficult to keep close to a leading
car too.

Cheers,

as in NASCAR racing (the real thing), the car in back drafting picks up
speed to 'slingshot' around the car in front of them.
