F1RS too slow

F1RS too slow

Silly me, I thought a PR233MX and a Matrox 220 would be good enough.  Is
there anything I could do besides reducing the number of cars or buy a
3Dfx?  Will DirectX 6 help?

Also my F1 Sim compact steering is very sensitive.  The sensitivity
setting doesn't seem to help, any ideas?

3Dfx is the keyword here! Runs great on my P233MMX, what's a PR233MX?
;^)
BTW, great with a V1 and even better with V2.

At least since patch 1.05 or 1.07 the sensitivity is not great, but ok.

Runs great on my P200 with 3dfx (Voodoo1) but ***on my brother in law's
P333 with a Rage Pro. We managed to get in to run okayish on the 333 by
installing the patches but never as good as with the Voodoo card. Also the
full installation makes a big difference to performance - especially the
menus and he has a 32X CD-Rom.

IMO, a 3Dfx card is the about the best hardware investment you can
make for *any* *** that supports it (assuming you have, like, at
least 64MB RAM), including F1RS.

Too right, brother! Don't get tempted into other cards even those with AGP
stamped all over the box. See Tom's comments on
http://www.racesimcentral.net/
Don't know who Tom is or where he get's the time or the considerable amount
of money to find out about and test all the kit he does. But if you want an
informed independant view on a piece of hardware consult him. (Why do Intel
give him so much information when he regularly slags them off?)

Just see it as it is -> F1RS is optimated for 3DFX. So get yourself a
3dfx-card and enjoy it ! Where's the problem ?

Also, man mailt sich...

I thought you have almost no advantage of a V2 unless you have a P2
processor. I have a P250MMX (P200MMX, bus speed 66->83MHz) and a V1,
smooth as a young girl's butt.

OR3Dfx card in general. However it is faster in raw bit throughput.
You must be sure to have the latest drivers of course. I run G-Police
which is very 3D intensive on both cards, and it is hard to tell the
RagePro card from the 3DFX one by game play.
However:

I agree with you here.

Buy a 3Dfx card. The Matrox 220 (I assume its a Mystique) sucks.
Get 64MB Ram too if you can.
I assume you meant a Pentium 233MMX too?
Try recalibrating the wheel under Win95/98
If that doesnt help, maybe you can define which part is sensitive?
Turn in? General steering?
