New to sim racing.  Currently using gravis gamepad but know my times are
suffering.  Could anybody recommend a good joystick that doesn't cost too
much.  I know a wheel would be better but, hey, i don't want to spend much
money right now.  any info would be helpful

A "cheap" (as in inexpensive) wheel is the Per4mer.  This wheel costs
around $60 and has several buttons you can configure for
gas/brake/shift/reverse.  I've had mine now for 7 months, and had one
minor problem that was easily fixed.  I also use the CH pedals (about
$50), and this set-up works VERY well for me.

Save your money and get a steering wheel. If you like the racing sims
you'll get on sooner or later anyway.
