Help, did I get ripped?

I know this may be a bit off topic but since this influences my racing
I'll post it here. I recently upgraded my CPU to a Pentium 166 and new
m/board. I noticed a decent improvement so I didn't think anything
about it. I was recently installing a game and the CPU check said I
had a P120. I then d/l'd a couple of benchmark tests including PCBench
9.0 and Winbench 97 and both said I have a P120. Did I get screwed on
this deal or is there something that would cause these programs to
miss what CPU I have? Thanks for any replies.

Check your motherboard's jumper/switch settings. You must set them
properly to match the bus/speed/voltage of your CPU! Doesn't matter if
you have a true 166 cpu if your MB is set lower, thats all you get!
Hopefully you have a manual that shows the settings.

I have seen similar problems caused by certain sound cards.  Try
removing your sound card and booting the machine and see if you get the
right speed.  Otherwise it sounds as if you may not have the jumpers set
right for the speed of your CPU.

Hi,

Well let's hope you didn't get screwed , but to be sure you need to check
or HAVE someone check to see if your jumpers are set right on the
motherboard. If their set at 120 then that's all you get no matter what CPU
you have above that.
