lfs - braking with rwd

Ok, what's the deal with the default setup for lfs and the rwd car?

I finally got back into simracing after a summer of real racing with my
dirt track Camaro, and decided to check out lfs again.  Same problem -
touch the brakes and the car pretty much does a 180 all by itself...

I'm always tempted to buy it and then I drive the rwd car and get
totally annoyed with the setup or physics in it - I drive RWD cars - I
race a RWD Camaro on a dirt track, so I'm used to loose... but I can't
touch the brakes in LFS without doing a 180?  I monkey with the setup
and it gets better, but doesn't go away - are the other rwd cars better
or is it a physics bug?

No physics bug, try moving the brake bias forwards. You can lower the
brake pressure too if the pedal feels too sudden.

Even with your camero I'm sure it'd try to swap ends if you stood on the
brakes & dipped the clutch.

Not driving so fast would help too ;-)

Something is wrong at your end--the default set-ups don't do that normally.
I would suspect your brake pedal may be somehow acting like a digital on/off
switch.  Check the calibration/settings in LFS.

Part of it was my fault... steering wheel sits unused for a while and
gets dust in the pots - playing DTR2 for a while cleared it out.  What
would happen is that if you turned the wheel to the right about 2
degrees it would be the same as full left... it handles better now.

That said, I still think the default rwd car's setup is horrible.  It's
way loose.  I'd blame me but I've never had such a hard time with a
default setup before - Indycar 1-2, Nascar 1-4, DTR 1-2, SCGT.  Even GPL
with it's hockey puck tires isn't as loose.  Same wheel, same pedals.
(old thrustmaster non FF one...)

Camaro.  No E. <pet peeve>
I think I already played with the brake bias and it helped - it turned
out to be mostly by wheel being dusty, but I still think the default
setup is way too loose.

As for my real life driving.... the Camaro is an automatic... and
driving games help - when you start to go around, stay on the gas, do a
nice 360 and keep on going.  I can also confirm that when you get
airborne it does get quiet, just like in the movies.  (I gotta get the
clip online...)

Racecar driver test:  if you get airtime and all 4 wheels off the
ground, what do you do?  Pit?  Slow down?  Do your best Dukes of Hazzard
"yeeha!" as you land and then cut your best laptime ever?  :)  (yeah,
I'm insane.)
