How does "Damping" in N4 work?

How does "Damping" in N4 work?

I find the FFB in N4 to be vastly inferior to GPL...but perhaps I just don't
have it set correctly.  It took me a long time to get my GPL set to be
realistic.

I understand the simple force level control (I hope), and I understand the
latency issue, but what exactly should be the difference between 0 and 100
damping?

I agree, I was hoping for FFB equal to GPL.  I've been playing with
the damping and latency setting, and haven't noticed much difference.
From what I understand the damping setting is used to help prevent the
wheel from oscillating.  I don't think it can be used to enhance the
FF effects.
