Like its choppy. Hmm best way i can say...
GF4200 with 4351, have tried other drivers, but its the same.
Anyone tried this?

GTR is a demanding mod.  What are some of the rest of your specs?  i.e.
cpu, ram etc.  And do you have goodies on like FSAA?  With that video card
you should be getting close to  the 40million triangle area in
3dconfig.exe(inside f1 2k2 folder)  what are the results 3d config reports?

I have a AMD xp2400 running 11,5*182, 2*256 mb Samsung DDR.
System have been tortured in both Memtest and Prime95, and it run
flawlessly. I think to remember the same problem when i ran the game,
F1-2002, last year, but was then able to get rid of it somehow. Its like a
halt for 1/10 of a second with 10 seconds interval, and it is ofcause most
noticeable when cornering because of the panning effect. I think ;-)
3d config report 41,7 million triangels.

The symptoms sound like texture swapping, i.e. a shortage of graphics card
memory. This is common in corners because "new bits" of the track are coming
in to view. How much RAM does your graphics card have? Try reducing texture
quality in game (don't change anything else) and see if it fixes itself....?

"Henrichsen"
WIth the very new drivers you have, could the vsync option be defaulted
back to ON?  Check that out, and see if D3D has an box to turn off the
vsync.  With most Nvidia drivers you need a third party utility like cool
bits or Riva Tuner to access the Vsync controls.

reloading the VIA drivers was the trick on my machine.

I have this same symptom (90+ FPS & jerkyness) but it happens only on the
first lap out of the pits and it is specially noticeable if its raining and
on the original game tracks. On all other laps it runs fine. Vsync off and a
GF4 4400, P4 2.5 512MB RAM..

I still have the problem. I have tried circuit quality settings from low to
full.
No difference at all.
My GF4 have 128 mb on it. Vsync is set to off, i use coolbits+.
My mainboard is a Epox 8RDA+, and therefore uses Nforce drivers.
Its more like happening every 2-10 seconds.
Hmmm...

Lower the numbers of cars shown.
Try to set shadow to low or medium.
Do you use AA? Turn it off then.
Then what?

Martin.

Gf2 is too old a card.  You can improve fps in GTR by turning off the
mirrors and hud.  use the mirrors after the pack thins out after the first
lap.

One bit of info.   If you ran the latest 3d benchmark, you had to have
dx9 installed, which you do.  But your card is closer to dx7.  So even
running the previous version of 3dmark you would get a fairly low score.
Using 3dmark 2000 is more suited to your current card, but since you have
dx9 installed it probably won't work.  So seeing such a low score with
3dmark is not as bad as it seems, it is just that your present card cannot
run most of the items that 3dmark tests.  I would guess you probably would
be in the 3 to 4 thousand area if you could get 3dmark2001se to run.  But
that would also mean dropping back to dx8.  So don't get too worked up by
these benchmarks, they are aimed at the latest and greatest cards out
there.   having said that, your card is outdated and somewhat underpowered
but you don't have to upgrade yet. Soon most all the games will be dx9
versons and you will lose more and more features.  So make sure if you do
upgrade you don't grab a dx8 level card like the GF4's and ATI 9000.  Try
to get one that already supports dx9.  Good luck.
