Strange happenings in GP2 !!!!!!!

Amazing !

I was racing at Pacific just now and made an excellent passing
manoeuver against Alesi as I went into the tight 1st gear right hander
after Moss S.  I was so pleased I waited until settled on the
straight, pressed pause and then replay, dead chuffed at my
achievement !

So imagine my horror when I saw ME come hairing round the last bend of
the Moss S, smack Alesi up the rear, lose a wheel and nosecone and
spin out of the race !!!!  What the *hell* is going on ?????

Maybe the AI decided that thats what *should* have happened after such
an agressive move and 'made it so'.....and that was that - I was out
of the Pacific GP.  I was pissed right off as I was in 1st position
after 72 laps and had a 50-odd second lead  (okay, okay I'm on an easy
level, but still...).   Anyone else had this happen ?

I had more or less the same thing happen to me a few days back. Same
situation ... but better outcome. I came around a corner way too fast on
Monza, ended up sideways on the grass, sliding in the correct direction,
and I managed to straighten up, and continue, without loosing a position.
I thought that would look cool, so I paused, and repleyed, and the
computer  showed me keeping a great line, on the enge of the track, where
I should have been.

Anyone else?

Craig.

Hello, fellow.

Yea, many of us is having this and other problems, but few of us is
understanding that we have to show Mr. Crammond we are not pleased
with the problems he left to us in the very announced great GP2. I
agree that we have to complain politly, without fighting, and
respecting the positive things within the game. But unfortunately we
are no helping to develop a better game in the future.

I also had problems for asking the game a reply. Sometimes it does at
the first reply, sometimes it does when you repeat you reply at least
twice. If that happens to you, to me, to some people I know here near
me, thats indicates is not our computer who is having a mistake...

What to say about all the other imperfections. Sincerely, if I was Mr.
Crammond and Microprose I would release the game only after everything
would be really tested. I think we as consumers deserve this respect.

I get your meaning, but if we were left to wait until the game was
*right*,
then we may not have had the chance until the next millinium (2001).

Papyrus (and a few others) have shown that with just a little effort
(reading
and commenting in this news group), that the majority of problems get the
proper attention they deserve...MPS seems to have shut their collective
eyes and ears to the ones who post to them (except for the cursory "we
have no plans...", or "we'll look into it...").

The game has been on the shelves nearly 8-months...I would think that the
company would have fixed at least one item by now (nothing in particular,
take your pick).  I don't place any blame on Mr. Crammond for this, my
complaint is primarily with the folks who boldly stamp their name on the
front of the box.

Speaking of which, I'll step off mine now...

Best Regards,

Marc

Strange happenings in GP2 !!!!!!!

Hi Marc,

Given that it took a good 8 months for the first ICR2 patch to come out,
that in itself shouldn't be an automatic reason for singling out
Microprose.

The fact that they won't announce for sure whether there will be a patch
or not _is_ good enough reason though.

Personally, I don't _need_ a patch as I get a perfectly good frame rate
on my P133 and the very small number of minor bugs can easily be worked
around IMHO. None of them affect the actual racing after all.

IPX and 3DFX support would be great and would get my vote. Combine these
with variable, dynamic weather and a 1996 or better still 97 track update
and I for one would be willing to pay an "add on pack" type amount. But
if Microprose intend this sort of move I wish they would at least let us
know :(

Cheers,
Richard
