XBOX Steering Wheels

I have just recently purchased Indycar Series 2005 for the XBOX and am
wondering if anyone else out there is using a steering wheel with their
XBOX.  I bought the Mad Catz MC2 for $49.99 at Electronics Boutique.  So
far, it isn't bad but lacks some sensitivity when trying to manuever in a
straight line.

Anyone else have a review to offer?

Thanks
Carl

Hey Carl, I was thinking the same thing.

Carl,

I was contemplating the purchase of an MC2 myself.  From what I gather, it's
the best of the rather dismal lot of XBox wheels  Is yours the Universal
model or the XBox exclusive model (the one with the communicator port)?

Have you tried adjusting the sensitivity from within the game?  I have
Indcar 2005 also, but I don't have a wheel so I can't check the options that
are there.  Supposedly, ICS 2005 was supposed to offer "all new steering
wheel support"... whatever that means.   I was hoping linearity and deadzone
adjustments would be part of that.

Unfortunately... no :-(  You'd think Microsoft's XBox would have USB support
before Sony's Playstation 2, wouldn't you?

Well, the Xbox game ports are actually USB ports but the Xbox controllers
aren't HID compliant like PC USB controllers so no games recognize PC
controllers (even with a proper USB ->Xbox adapter)  I assume it's a move
designed to make everyone buy proprietry Xbox controllers which, ironically,
is normally the kind of thing Sony would do.

Even more ironical: Sony's PS2 has proper USB ports, and you can plug some
(but not all) PC steering wheels straight in, like the Thrustmaster Ferrari
wheel, and they work just fine.  Ironic, because it was Microsoft that
pushed for ubiquitous USB ports (v. 1394, a superior standard...but it was
owned by Apple), and, as you say, "proprietary" is usually Sony's M.O.

just bought the Mad Catz MC2 for the xbox, i must say i tried it with
3 diffreent driving games, i wasn't impressed. the problem i had was
the responce.... even though i tweaked the acudrive system, its a
little bit slow,..0.5 seconds slower to respond when your turn the
steering wheel. i have used steering wheels in the past on the pc, and
I must say the pc version is  pretty accurate.

Just my thoughts
