Well well. I got the steering wheel last night.
To the poeple that responded about the difference between a stick and a
wheel first thanks and second you need to put more emphasis on how much
freakin better the control is over a stick. Put it in words. It's
bigger than night and day. It goes from touchy with the stick to
driving a real car around the track.
No wonder everybody sorta laughed at me about arcade mode. You guys
have steering wheels, you musta assumed I did. So now let me refrain my
comments about handling. Papyrus should in a perfect world put an
option in for stick owners only, to have a better handling car when a
stick is used, it does need it (arcade works, but not available in
multiplayer). But with a wheel it's so perfect it's scary. I couldn't,
still can't, won't, refuse to belive how good the feel was with the T2
system. This game if and when the dumb bugs are fixed is "The Best Game
I Ever Played to Date" (Now I haven't tried Voodoo Whiplash with the
wheel yet so this could be equalled). When the boyz (friends of mine)
try this out (first their gonna shit!) I may Finally get them to buy a
pc of their own. It's so good that it can make a mechanic who hates
pc's to be swayed into buying a system just to play a game like this.
If you like Nascar racing I can't think how one could not want this and
badly. And I mean a whole new system if you don't have one.
The only thing that's akward are the pedals, their workable but they
just are a little strange in feel.
What is the difference between Liner and Non-Linear? The car steers the
same for me in either mode.
The only thing the T2 could use is a couple buttons that can be
remapped to keyboard enteries. OR the software allows all commands to
be remmaped. On the T2 one of those red buttons would really work good
for scrolling through the "F" button options. Press the first time it's
F1, next time F2 comes up ect. ect. ect.. Maybe plus or minus buttons
added as well. So you can go to the Spoiler screen and then press more
or less right there at the wheel. Now of course I personally have this
handled. The Verbal Commander works beutifuly with N2. For example I
say "Leader Board" and wala it appears, I say "UP" or "Down" to scroll
through the list. Or I say "Tires" and bam tires apprear say "NEXT" to
scroll through to the tire in question then state "UP or "Down". I
guess what I'm getting at is this is a plug for Verbal Commander. Since
you guys have the wheels the next thing you want is to verbaly command
all the options of N2 while your driving and not lose a moments view by
glancing elsewhere. Everytime I say "View" it toggles between them.
"Pit" the pit screen comes up then I can use "Next" ect.. To tell the
guys in there what I want them to do. I think your getting the point.
Now I'm still Hot about the multiplayer BUGS. Like anything we have a
program here so close to heaven, but their are multiplayer bugs in this
game (plus others noted). No I'm thankful at least the multiplayer
racing at least works. But that's about all that does.
You can't, I repeat You Can't. Race your own car in a Multiplayer Home
Network enviroment. You can't choose a racing list of cars racing. When
you go Muliplayer it gives you a unmodifiable defualt set and You will
be racing Sierra's car, no if and's or buts. In fact everybody on the
network will be racing the sierra car. This is crappy obviously. Boy so
far I painted up about 12 buddys cars and then find out I can't use
them :(
But again WOW WEEE!!! With a steering wheel this game controls
unbafreakinlievably. You owe it to yourself to get a wheel if you don't
have one, a pc if you don't have one (make sure you have a verite to)
whatever you need get this game running at your home with wheel
included. If you have to steal the system DO IT!!! Well.....
OH YA. We really would like an antialaising version of N2 to.
Q.B.M.
Currently looking for a new job where I don't have to work, so I can
race!
Amen, the T2 puts everything else I've driven with to shame. When I first
got the original Nascar game in Christmas of 95, I had to use the
keyboard. I got very good at it after about 6months. (averaging 194 at
Talladega with random weather), but the problem was the tire wear was
awful. I couldnt go 30 laps without pitting.
I started to run a season with the opponents at 97%, and won it with the
keyboard.
I thought that I was as good as I could get, until my friend bought his
T2. I cannot begin to explain the improvement. (giving Tal as example
because thats where i race the most) For example, My average lap at Tal
went from 194 to 195.5 with random weather. At 120 degrees and no wind
it's now up around 197.5-198.
My fastest lap so far is 199.628.
Can't wait for Nascar 2 to arrive at my house at the end of the week, If
anyone is considering purchasing a T2 and pedals, stop reading this post
and go buy it NOW. YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY.
I am in the market for a new system..... Where did you say you lived???
:-)
So, would it be safe to assume that you are pleased with your new purchase?
Couldn't really tell from your post...
