What Processor & Memory is Required to Run IRC2?

by Yogi » Wed, 06 Dec 1995 04:00:00

I have downloaded ICR2 demo and run it on my 486DX2/50 w/ 8 Meg of
memory.  Even after I turned off most of the details, it dosen't
run worth the s#*t.  Graphic is just too choppy.

NASCAR racing is kind of sameway, but runs pretty darn good w/
details turned off.

What is going on here???  Do I have to spend $400 to get pentium
overdrive processor (63 MHz) or spend as much in memory???

ICR1 runs flawlessly.  Why, everytime Papyrus comes up w/ new
games, it demands more from the computers?  I hope they realize
that a lot of us are stuck w/ 486 for next few years.

  I believe a 486dx250 is just a 486 25mhz system with the internal
clock speed double.  In other words, a 25mhz buss is SLOW!!!  Dont
expect to many processor hungry games to run well on this system.
You should save your money and buy a new pentium board, atleast
100mhz.  Buying more memory will not speed up games.  Buying a new
fast video card helps, but on 25mhz system dont expect too much.
Papyrus does realize people have 486 systems, that is why they
design their games to allow you to turn off detail.

You can get a 486DX4/100 with motherboard for about $250 (maybe even
less).  Slap another 8 megs o' Ram on it too if you get a chance.

Yeah it takes more to run it, but it's doing a whole lot more than the
older version of it did.

Go #6 Mark Martin and #16 Ted Musgrave - Jack Roush Racing!!
NASCAR Racing!!
