I was checking out the official NasRev BBS, and this reply from an EA rep to
a complaint caught my eye.  Arcady?!?  Such a good game?!?

If you find that the game is running too slowly, please try different video
configurations in the video options menu to optimize performance.
And once again, the game was designed to be more arcady than simulation. If
you have bug concerns, please be more specific, they most likely are not
true bugs, but rather design issues.

We're sorry that you feel badly about such a good game. We feel you should
judge the game for what it is (a more arcady racer) rather than a hard core
simulation.

Thanks for your posts and concerns."

Here's another good one:

We truly feel sorry that people are disappointed with the game as it is. We
know that the most vocal people on any bulletin board are the hard core
simulation fans and unfortunately we did not design the game to be a hard
core simulation. While physics are modeled correctly, the gameplay was tuned
to be more arcady so the user does not spend time trying to correct the car
from wheelspin at 150 mph."

I wouldn't mind this game if it even stood up as a decent "arcady" game.
But it doesn't even do that.

that really gets me going.  In ALL the pre-release writings that
EA did, they said that this game was a SIMULATION, with options
for arcade players if they wanted them.  Now they are changing there
tune.

<EA repentence snipped ("We're sorry...")>

<RANT>

Physics modeled correctly???  How come I can go flat out around one of
the corners at C***te in NasRev then?  The cup cars don't do that for
sure!  Maybe the physics are correct on the moon, but not here!  Here on
earth we also have severe consequences to hitting a concrete wall with a
heavy stock car!  I hope Sports Car GT has correctly modeled physics, it
will be the first game that EA published that does, IMO!  It is only
being *published* by EA, right???

UHH didnt they say it was more realistic than Nascar 99 and one of the most
realistic nascar games of its time?

You know, I wouldn't have spoken up, but I have never *once* seen you
post a message with any substance or maturity. Even on usenet, there
are very few people I can say that about.

Isn't the correct spelling "roolz"?
While Hido, as suggested in the well-worn cliche', "gets a life" you might
consider "getting an education".

They clearly stated in all their ads, their FAQ on their site and even
on NASCA.COM that this was a simulation. The VP was even quoted as
saying *** SIM. Bottom line, EA has lied and put out a game that
is at BEST a pathetic arcade game that is barely playable.

Buyer beware on this one...

I don't think he meant  to write "Arcady".  I think he meant to write
"Funner" or maybe "Excitinger"
