Here's a blurb from the ESPN motorsports site,  A reprinting of an
article that OWRS (cart.com) has been trumpeting.

Champ Car got an additional boost from a study of North American racing
attendance conducted by the Sports Business Journal. In terms of average
race weekend attendance, Champ Car ranked second to NASCAR, with an average
of 133,000 fans per event. NASCAR was the runaway leader, with its 38 races
drawing 6.7 million spectators for a weekend average of 176,315.

Champ Car's total attendance of 2.26 million was more than twice that
attributed to the Indy Racing League (1.02 million), which ranked sixth in
per-event attendance with an average of 65,546 for each of its 16 races.

(what suprises me is that the irl average INCLUDES several hundred thousand
for Indy.  What would their gate be WITHOUT the big track?)

13 or 14 and counting

The sad part is that without Indy, there will be no CART.
