F1 car skin editing, what am I doing wrong?

by RacerMa » Tue, 04 Apr 2000 04:00:00

I am trying to apply some of the new car "skins" found at Blackhole
Motorsports.  From what I can tell, I'm following instructions as best I
can:  I unpack the appropriate team.mas file with unpak.exe, then I use
editmas.exe to import the new .bmp skin files.  I assume that's it, so I
copy the new team.mas back to the respective team folder, but when I select
that particular team's car in the game, it doesn't show the car, and
eventually crashes to the desktop.  Is there a step after importing the .bmp
files that I'm missing?  Thx in advance for any help provided.

says...

You have to repak the files when you're done.  You should find the
program that does it at Locutus' site, too...

I don't think you do have to repack the mas files. The way I understood it
is that you can, only if you want to save space. I edited all the cars and
they worked fine, and I didn't repack them. I didn't use the files from
Blackhole Motorsports, but besides that what you described seems right, as
far as I can remember.
