Thanks Tim

Nope...just the latest one.
Ubi Soft do the sensible thing and include all previous mods on their
latest patch update.
I *think* the most recent is #9.

If you bought the U.S. release, I think you're already up to the 1.08 patch
level. Patch 1.09 can still be applied, which is what I recently did.

Also be sure to go to www.f1racingsim.com and get the 98 carsets and
replacement skyline bitmaps. Canada is awesome with the new skyline.
No more fuzzy buildings :-) And depending on which soundcard you have
you can get the 3D sound patch to work.

Couple 'of questions.

1.  I've read that the 3D sound patch works with a number of sound
cards (Monster Sound being one of them).  I have a MagicWave PCI A3D
sound card (same chipset as the Monster), and I get some "gittering"
in the sound - cuts back and forth between the speakers very quickly.
The positional sound seems to be working, it's the cutting that's
driving me nuts.
Is there I setting I can change to fix this problem?
Or is it because my A3D card isn't the exact same as a Monster Sound.

2.  I've tried the replacing the skyline bitmaps, and the program
worked fine (it extracting and then merged them back in) no problem.
When trying out the track (Melbourne) the skyline was no different.
Although I notice the Melbourne track file date has changed, the
skyline seems to be untouched.
Any reason for this?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.
Marc.

This happened with the old drivers for my Ensoniq AudioPCI.
Newer drivers fixed the problem. So it may also be a driver
issue for you too. Also, I now notice that the 3D sound definately
muffles down at certain parts of a couple of tracks (Monaco
near ***, and France neart the end of the curcuit just
under the overpass.

A3D is not an issue for F1RS 3D sound. You must have Directsound3D
drivers installed. And as far as I know there is no way to confirm that you
have DirectSound3D installed properly.

Maybe you somehow replaced the skyline bitmap with the
same one? Canada was *MUCH* improved. Honestly I
haven't tried Melbourne yet. I might now to see if it looks
the same... As I said though Canada was originally as
blurry as Melbourne and it is now fixed. Have you tried
Canada?

I have the same problem with my Terratec XLerate. I thought, it has to
do
with the A3D drivers or DirectSound drivers. For Unreal I read on a site
that you HAVE to download the newest (or face 30% performance loss), but
Unreal works great with my card, so I'm at a loss here.

After some playing around I found that the 3D sound works in F1RS if
you're
using the F3 view (TV camera), but in F2 it's messed up. So there seems
to be a problem in F1RS.

Well the F2 view works fine with the 3D sound patch for me. So
it must be a combination of F1RS and your soundcard/drivers.

I get the same screwy sound in any view that I use.

It's really irratating.  Is there a setting to enable/disable?
I figure if it works for a A3D vortex based card, it should work for
all of them, shouldn't it?

Ok, somethings wrong then.

I've tried Montreal and there's no difference.  I'm probably doing
something wrong here.

I d/l'ed the skyline bitmap from a site.

Now I run the f1tradv.exe file and have it extract the track and
skyline.  Now when I wanna apply the new skyline to the game, do I
just use the f1tradv again (with the proper syntax/attributes), but
use the same track but with the new skyline?
I get no errors.

If this isn't how it's done, some guidance would definetely be
appreciated here.

Marc.

I believe I copied all the new skyline bitmaps into the Circuits
directory along with f1tradv.exe. I then used F1RSedit 1.62
and went down every track and selected "Insert". I believe
that reinserts whatever bitmaps you have in the circuit
directory into the game.
