Is there a way to have a bog standard rear view mirror without showing the
interior of your own car ?

TIA

The only options you have are by using the M button to toggle through them.

As far as I know, there is nothing else you can use..

Ok, thanks. I hoped someone had done a neat mod or something.

Ah, so THAT'S how to make the mirror more useful?  I found that the mirror was
too small, and it was VERY easy for another car to sneak up on you.  And, when
you're fighting for position, you have to concentrate harder on seeing the
mirror.  You couldn't just catch the following car in your peripheral vision.
Hopefully, turning off the interior will make it easier to see trailing cars...

It does help a lot.  I am willing to sacrifice a little "realism" to
make myself both more competitive and also less of a hazard to folks
who *think* they can pass me.  LOL.

Another thing that helps tremendously in being able to tell when folks
are on your rear quarters is a good set of rear speakers.  I find
myself cueing on that almost as much, if not more, as looking in the
mirror.

On the other hand, the car frame in the mirror is an extremely good tool
to determine whether you can close the door on someone or if he or she
is already beside you. The mirror in N4 is extremely wide-view, and if
you can still see the whole car in it doesn't mean it isn't already
beside you. I know this from first hands experience, still back in the
N4 demo days ;).

I don't have the 4(or 5) speaker set working yet, so I can't use that... :(
