Here is a copy of the e-mail I sent to Eidos regarding OF1R...

Good day to you.

I have one or two questions about Official Formula 1 Racing, and a few
suggestions to keep in mind for further improvements on this already-stellar
product.

Q1: Is there a way to change the brightness of the game when being played in
Glide?  The controls on my Voodoo Banshee AGP don't seem to help, but the
Direct3D controls work fine (but D3D is a tad slower).

Q2: I, and many others, am interested in changing car textures.
Specifically, I would like to be involved in a fan-made rehash of most of
the cars (all would be tobacco-free).  I would like to have the white
stripes (in place of the cigarette ad) on the Ferrari, and the 'Williams'
removed from the FW20 and replaced with the kangaroo logo.  Finally, the
McLaren could use the white oval with black and red swooshes.  If you have
any tips on editing the car textures (as is a common feature in games
today), I would greatly appreciate it.

Suggestions:
As stated above, a car (not track) editor would be welcomed, despite that
due to copyright reasons, it may not be available.

Probably the top item on my list, the pitlane is a source of a few minor
problems.  At Monaco and Hungary, the car will ***ly speed up and slow
down in the pitlane, and (in Hungary) will speed up and overshoot the first
turn at the pit exit.  The only other possible instance of this problem
would be Brazil, which I haven't tried yet.  The possible solution to this
would be letting the player regain control at the exact point in which the
pitlane ends.

Thank you very much for considering these questions and comments, and please
continue to support and develop this product.  There is nothing I would like
more to see than a 1999 update (but the FIA license is probably for '98
only.bummer).

       Sincerely,
       John P. Wilson

You might do better to write the developer of the game.  Their address is

unresponsive to those of us that purchased the game.  I like the game and would
like to see some minor improvements too.  A car editor would be nice, but split
axis pedals is the only fix that I need.  Good luck.

Oh and one more thing.... The entire tone of the email should be more
inflammatory.  Tell them the game sucks, use the term ***as much as possible
and do it in all CAPS.  I don't know how well it works, but as much as it's done
around here it must be a surefire way to get a helpful answer from the
publisher/developer.
